Safe way to trade?

Any ship I can use that can resist most pirates? Like I heard liners were good till they got nerfed. Basically anything that can take out gunboats, not allowed to pirate in anything bigger than that so I should be ok.

I make more in my 5000 cargo ship, but losses to pirates are really nervewrecking, and seeing my efforts to lobby for rules on piracy have failed, only alternative is to either make more runs or fight them off.

I'd rather fight them off. Even if it means making less per day.

Don't bother fighting pirates, just avoid them. Fly off the plane, take alternative routes etc. And if you must fight them, the Shire is your best bet. I hear some people manage to kill pirates with them.

If you kill me with a shire, I give you the 2M credits I asked !
Cause for now it did never happen, even 2 shire + 1 pecheron against my corsair gunboat.

Also there are lot of routes that are never used but gives more money than overused ones.

There is no "safe" way to trade. If you are going to trade, you are going to run the gauntlet of pirates. That is a given. However, if you use your brain you can outwit or avoid them. I both pirate and trade/smuggle.

I have lost out on many marks as a pirate because they are clever. I have never yet been pirated in my two plus years on Disco, although I've come close on several occasions. I like to think that that is because I am clever when it comes to outwitting or avoiding the pirates.

Besides, being pirated can be fun (I assume) since I have had many enjoyable interactions with many of the traders I have successfully pirated. Those traders that whine and moan and get OOC with me tend not to have a good experience. Serves them right, as far as I'm concerned.

Get a Luxury Liner with Junker tag and Zoner ID. That way you're in an uber ship and the pirates won't hurt you because you're neutral. As for guns, get some Colada and Kraken turrets. As for the best routes, trade cardamine from Malta to Crete and Artifacts back.

Every smart pirate will beat you down no matter what transport you fly. The reason? SNAC Range = 2k. Your gun range = 1.1k.

If you want to avoid pirates, smuggle. Oh, but you can't distinguish RP from reality so you probably think smugglers are bad people too. Oh well.
