Unoffical Faction Recruitment

Two unofficial faction recruitment threads were squashed earlier today by mwerte. No complaints there as an outside observer, but when the requirements for creating an official faction involve multiple members, how is it expected that people are to find those members? That is to say, members that will stay with the faction through all the bad times as well as the good.

6) After the faction has 5 or more members (characters on different accounts) and has received admin approval, the leader should post in Discovery Faction Status thread. Requirements for post are listed in the thread itself (see first post).

If the rules prohibit overt recruitment is the intention that, as happened with the ALG faction, the idea is proposed and interested parties should private message the prospective faction leader? Or recruitment via Skype, resulting in the same well known forumites becoming a part of every faction and enforcing a level of conformity?

To point out the first sentence of 6), there is no mention that it needs to be individual players to meet the requirements. By the wording of that sentence the ibn Sinas, five separate characters all run by one player, could qualify. Is this in the spirit of the rule, or is it only the word of the rule? Is the intention that it should be five separate players?

I was in the position yesterday of suggesting jobs to a freighter captain, aware I was essentially recruiting by proxy, and trying to work out how to dance around the fact within RP.

When the DXI seemed to consist of one pilot I nudged would-be escort/mercenary pilots in that direction. Was this an act not in accordance with Discovery rule?

What is the accepted method to boost membership for an unofficial faction in order to meet the requirements of the faction creation request? Should there be an unofficial faction recruitment forum header?

I always thought that un-official factions recruited in the Employment Office instead. OSI did it and it worked well for them.

But the AGS one got locked, and not even a single person had applied.

P.S. Isn't this promoting all the kinds of rubbish in which several factions have a large majority of the same players? Sure, do it for opposing sides, but I wouldn't want the OSI to have been sprung from the TAZ to have been sprung from Queen Elizabeth's forehead to have been sprung via C-Section. It's like inbreeding. Counterproductive to the enhancement and evolution of RP.

After a little discussion, we are clarifying the policy related to unofficial faction recruitment to be:
- recruitment in game is allowed
- recruitment on the forum is not

To answer your specific questions:

Yes, five separate players are needed.
