Hello again, I come to you with a question that stems from a fleet battle earlier today.

The corsairs invaded alpha and it was grand. This single event was the most fun I have had in all of discovery, but halfway through I got a bit bored. The maltese capital ships where destroyed fairly early on leaving me and a dreadnought to sit there and get pounded on. I of course took a few pot shots with my razor but other then that I sat there and was a target.

This makes me wonder about AA battleships. I have seen it done several times yet I have never seen it in action, im wanting your personal oppinion on the matter and any suggestions towards doing it.

Im thinking for my osiris

1x mortar
2x pulse
2x razor
7x solaris


Any ideas? It might be horrible where I should stick to my 1x mortar, 2x pulse 1x razor and the rest primaries loadout but it leaves me wondering if it might be the way to go. Where the osiris takes out less then caps while the dreadnoughts pound on each other then I would move on to mortaring/pulsing said enemy dreadnought.

Haha, Those 'Pound' from the Freelancer Bombers sure made me blow fairly quickly. The down point to Cruiser...

Wait, Is freelancers even allow to attack us? I mean, They are neutral, and they are in the Outcast system while we attacked. Maybe they can because they were staying there at first..

It's a real tough one to say the least. Same thing was going on in Omega-15 Too, 4 bombers wiped the floor with a Core BS and a Rhienland Battleship all they had to do was fly in circles basically only that got even close to hurting them was my Gunboat, hence why they jumped me eventually. We hope to get some reasonable flaks besides Solaris.

Another not BH bombers are way easier to hit then almost every other bomber. It's kinda sad. *Waits for bashing and death threats*

Oh yeah a BH bmber and 1 maybe 2 gunships were there. How did we die to 3 bombers? It's real frustrating.

I've seen some ships set up like that... personally I would go with flaks and solaris, and a battle razor on a 360 hardpoint.

I cant say how effective battleship solaris turrets are, but I know that cruiser solaris are one of the most pointless weapons in the mod.

I'm not even sure if you're serious?

We were called in, anyway, by the 101st, to help out - because of the unbalanced numbers, and because we have a standing contract paid by them for us to kill corsairs.

BS sols are 2600 speed so I see they're use but we shouldn'thave to use up 75% of our hard points to killa bomber. Flaks are hit or miss not only because the way they're set also because the seem to explode immediately when in either a radioactive field or in nebulas, my gues us they're bugged.

The speed on cruiser solaris turrets is fine, the issue is with max range. I tried solaris turrets on my carrier once (which is roughly the same size as an osiris battleship), and the hardpoints on one end of my ship cannot hit a bomber at the other end. On top of that, accuracy is thrown off when your hardpoitns are all 50+ meters apart.

Was a good fight, glad you guys showed up (your maffics impressed me I want one now..)

Also, the biggest reason I ask is I constantly hear conflicting reports from really good ship captains about this setup.
