as the title says - its just a suggestion...

the mastodon was a bit of a hushed job. - but its not a bad ship. - this model is a slightly more detailed and more "supertransport" looking ship. - but i d leave it to the feedback to decide if its worth a replace or not.

it is a very asymetric design - even more than the current mastodon - the basic shapes are still the same though - with the "Y" shaped containers. - i have replaced the cruiser type engines with a larger one there.

I like them both. However, in my view, what Liberty really needs is an intermediate transport rather than a Mastodon replacement.

Better, by far.

But all the houses should have a 4200 cargo 'tank'.
Like the Shire and Akegata...

I like those.

Beyond a 4200 cargo tank, I think there should be a 3600-3800 cargo midrange, and a 4700 cargo lighter tank for each house.

Also...I love the current mastodon. If it had guns, I'd fly it. Without guns, I really can't see it being great.
Perhaps make this one the 5k supertrans, and make the current mastodon a 4200 tank?

As a pilot of a Mastodon, I must say that the reason why people don't fly them is because of the guns issue. You could either get a Mastodon or an Adv. Train with the same cargo capacity and still be able to defend yourself. I personally think the current Mastodon isn't perfect, but I do like it's general design. I have often thought that if you just took that cruiser engine off and slapped a Lib Dread engine + graphic, I think that would be awesome.

Concerning this newer one, I like it very much, and wouldn't mind have this one as the Mastodon and downgrade the current model to a midranged transport. (As Uselie said) My only concern is at the front, I'm wondering what purpose those rails shooting out of it serve?

"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."

I'm with Unselie, but for that's a lot of modelling, particularly for Liberty.

Regards the Mastadon having a cargo shrink, it'd need a fairly hefty model shrink too if that happened. I'd imagine it'd also be easier to put multiple hardpoints on the new model than to rehardpoint an old one.

Edit: I imagine the rails in the new model are for loading/unloading containers.

Size comparison below.

I like the current Mastadon a great deal. The one gun is perfect for knocking out tradelanes behind you, as you'll not be defending yourself very well with any of the 5ks.

While i find this model appealing I believe it would be better served as falling into the "C-Trans" class of ship, an additional vessel as opposed to a replacement of a model which is rather nice.

The only thing, I dare say, the Mastadon needs is a fix to cake care of some of the model gaps.

I have to agree with dusty here. I'd suggest a mid ranged transport being dropped in, as well as an equivalent to the shire/c-trans.

That ship, if scaled to be roughly the same size as the mastodon, would make a very nice c-trans type ship, however a small Borderworlds transport type ship would be rather nice as well.

Infact, on that note, a generic lawful version of the pirate train would be a rather nice addition to the mod.

if you want a lawful version of the pirate train, i could easily just skin this one here ...

but i guess i can also just downscale the mastodon
