I have been pondering whether or not I should actually post on this but its finally gotten the better of me. Please note that this is a bit of constructive critisism and not meant to be personal or argumentative. (Man I sound like a @#*% lawyer) A disturbing trend has appeared in the RP message dumps. The practice of "encoding" all the posts and transmissions in a public message dump, in my opinion, is going to kill the spirit of RP in this forum and in the game in general.

By encrypting everything it is no different then PM'ing the info. I see no point against encrypting something that needs wide dissemination through your clan and is confidential, but to post everything in this manner makes me wonder why post it at all. If all the battle reports and all the regular comm traffic is to be encrypted, why even bother. Plus you have to remember that you and your clan are not the only ones that enjoy reading your messages. The Helgast are perfectly welcome to peruse our (the SA) comm traffic as there is nothing in there that would be a detriment to our operations and only adds to the flavor and "spice" of our Discovery universe.

Another point is that for better or worse, this community is self regulating. I personally feel that if you deserve to be flamed then light that match and torch away. The right or wrong will be decided when the flames are put out. This practice and the people on this server are what seperates this server from all the rest. We take care of our own. But if you start encrypting everything, no longer is anyone responsible for anything they post. They can say whatever or do whatever they want they want without reguard to anyone else. I feel that this will only further divide us and eventually lead to the death of RP on the server. Why RP when no one else gets to participate. You end up playing with yourself.

So in conclusion I say that the occasional encoded post is fine but for the normal traffic there is no point. Thank you for your consideration.

Respectfully,
Thor

First, paragraphs please! Makes it harder to read without them.

Second, AW is using encrypts only in important information. The reason we have been encrypting alot the last few days, is because we are talking about sensitive info, the encrypt itself, and testing it. Within the week, you'll be seeing less encrypting in our dump.

I know. Using krypto all the time kills the RP of the thread.

I prefer to use it for classified info only. All the regular info will go through normal comm.

SCRA did encypt at some point but it really kinda pointless now since you can just do Carbon (Courtesy) Copies now.

Aye, SCRA will only encrip thing that need to go to EVERYONE, other than that we can CC things. I think that the SA msg dump is a little out of hand though, but looks like things may be clearing up on that front too.

I complete agree with Thor. The encryption stuff is getting annoying and it is out of RP. Glad someone pointed it out.

@Dboy; I dissagree in some ways at this. Its not out of RP, it just doesn't really fit well with what we have currently go going here. I don't see why you would use it because if you need everyone in the clan to see something of that importance, just PM it..
