Ships Status: CRITICAL WEAPONS:DESTROYED, SHIELDS:DESTROYED, ENGINES:OFFLINE, HULL:CRITICAL

SIGNAL ROUTING FAILURE, re-routing through all available navigational channels. Error, signal returning upon original path, resending. ERROR, signal feedback, triangulation of signal now impossible

ACTIVATING AUTOMATED DISTRESS CALL ERROR computer failure. SWITCHING TO MANUAL SYSTEM.

The screen changes to show the interior of a decrepit looking vessel, control panels sparking and shorting. ERROR messages flashing across all systems. No-one is seated in the pilots seat, and back in the cockpit, a hatch is sealed, decompression warnings streaming down a small repeater display alongside the hatch.

All is silent, except for the faint blaring of an alarm Klaxon somewhere deep in the freighter and the small sound of sobbing from a tiny mound of rags sitting curled up at the back of the cockpit.

Daddy?

She struggles to get up, the rags obviously dirty pajamas, clutching a small stuffed nomad toy that were popular on some Bretonian worlds, her bottom lip quivers as she nervously nears the camera/comm. unit.

Daddy said we were going to a new home, somewhere nice she bites her lip. But that was before the bad men they beat up the captain the nasty one wouldnt let me go. Daddy was so angry. She sniffled. Daddy made them promise not to hurt me, and they said ok but he had to go into the small room with the big door outside. He said it would be okay I want my daddy!

She blubbered again, sinking down so that her head rests on the comm. panel. The nasty man put me in this ship, said we were going some place special. They took all the girls I dont know where I am Im frightened

Sub-routines flared into life in the AI's core. It was remarkable how Isaac had progressed since being launched from Manhattan, and its First Law protocols spawned a new set of instructions. These were relayed to its broadcast and speech circuits, and after being double-checked for errors, were transmitted. Soon, the AI's calm, reassuring voice was once again filling the endangered vessel.

The little girl glances up at the nice voice on the computer, she swallows again. Mommy works for a Uni uni a big school in Came-Bur-ijj. But she and Daddy had a fight Daddy said he was going to take me to a new house where the sun shines and there were Canaries, She looked around here.

Theres a big window, I see the nasty man outside hes upside down and not moving everythings dark and I see a lot of rocks. She crept back and sat on the edge of the pilots seat, her eyes as big as saucers. I think we went to New Lundun the bad men were very scared they kept saying stuff about the police. She suddenly brightens up, we shook a lot, like six or seven times. I thought my insides were jelly, and everything was really bright outside
