[font=Palatino Linotype][size=medium]Is i[color=#FF6666]mportant.

No matter what you may think of someone or how silly they might appear, it's never a good idea to drag them through a multiple page flame or mockfest.
You can always:

A) Ignore them if you don't have anything contributing to say.
B) Explain to them calmly why they're wrong.

But what you should not do is try and humiliate them or flood their thread.

Yes some people go on the forums to whine and moan.
But perhaps they just do not understand. Perhaps they've jumped to conclusions, but it doesn't mean you have to do it as well.

If anyone is wondering what I'm talking about, it's about this thread.

I know the guy was wrong. I know what he sounded like. I myself could've thought of at least 5 different sarcastic comments about his thread. But to do it is wrong.

Now I congratulate the people who either ignored the thread or explained to him why some of his comments were ludicrous and where he went wrong.
And why could the thread not have been filled with just that?
Certainly would've saved some forum space and nerves too.

So I'd just like to ask you to heed my words and whatnot.

Just to prove to you that the guy wasn't the dumbass you prejudiced him to be, we've had a conversation through PMs and it turned out it was a misunderstanding. He didn't quite know how things worked around here, and yes, he broke the rules, and yes, he deservedly got sanctioned.
But in the end he accepted that fact and that was that.

And now he's left the server. Yeah, I know we have plenty of players and that 99% of us didn't know him and that almost as many don't care that he's gone.
But this is still not the way to create and maintain a well-natured community of gamers and friends.

So have a bit of face, please, and have some consideration, as well as common sense.

Mmkay?

Well, some people may meet a noticeable number of pilots, who are rulelawering ingame after braking another rule, or some lolwuters...so they are already upset from game, the go to visit forums to get some fun, and they see exactly that why they left the game... Boy, that can make one pretty upset.
Of course, it's not excuse for behaving like that. But from my POV, I can sort of understand it. Except when someone is just whining around permanently. Like me ^^ . I am lost case.

Edit: and yes, the color is crazy. Dark blue colors are barely visible on Blue Solution

It's meant to sear into people's heads.

Swift, what you said is remarkably right.Yes, everyone should do that.
But there are some special cases.

You see, I'm part of the 1% who knows this guy : His sanction is related to an event that occured during a piracy session which I participated in.

We asked him for credits, he said no and tried to make a run for it.
You know the rest, kapoof, orca, ooc and all that.

We did TRY to help him.We did try to explain him what he was doing was totally wrong. We did all we could.
But he was so sure of himself, blattering about the rules and how we'd get sanctioned, that we just gave up.

Some are just, you know...Enigmatic.
Otherwise I do understand and fully agree with the points you stated.
It is true that a bit more of common sense and friendliness could do a world of good on this community.

Feedback, insults, marriage proposals and declarations of fealty

Apologies, but this post may be the sort of post he was talking about.

True, the colour does not appeal to some.

However, the post comes off as brash and unconcerned about the actual content of the post. (Which also appears to be a "+1", but eh.)

Anything I say is not intended as offensive, and to try and deliberately misinterpret it as such would be an attempt at trolling via misrepresentation.

It's not a conspiracy, it's localised bias. They're not intelligent enough to form a conspiracy.

If that was what happened, then I agree with you. But it's still beside the point.
I never said he didn't need to get sanctioned because he indeed did break the rules.
I'm just trying to tell people that the reasonable thing to do was to just explain things to him instead of mocking him.

The same thing happens time after time after time. Should end at one point.

you see i could not know what you are talking about because i didnt read his post at all.. i asked him to change the color so it will be easier for others and me to read it.. did not intend to +1 or insult him.. It was a true request.. nothing behind it.

Yes I understand what you mean and I agree.
People are quicker to mock than to help most of the time.
Not very noob-friendly, eh, we all had our OORP moments.

I was talking about this kind of behavior. Yesterday I've met 3 people like this. In a row. Can you imagine how I felt? My mouse barely made it in one piece. If I saw something like that one, who are you talking about, here on forums and knew, that's going on, my head would probably explode. I should add that I'm usually calm person, rarely throwing things around my room ^^

Well, in case some of my wrath passed to forums, I apologize for that in advance!
