In-game roleplay regarding gore, sexual themes, other violence and such

I have been holding out on some of my RPs both ingame and on the forum story sections, where to acheive the best experiance and get the point across we relate to text violence.

This is all fine and dandy, people dying, this is not exactly a PG13 server considering it's a game of the human race getting raped by flying space dildoes.

In my Mort storys I have had a few people mention that i am braking forum rules and if I continue to express such detail ingame then I might get whacked one day.

But where is the border then?

Where is the border for, say, writing how a person dies and, say, describing the action in lovely detail up to the last snap of their bones.

Where is the border for, say, my character telling you that he will rape you, murder you and rape you again, and, say, explaining it in every detail, every twitch, jerk and ripple.

Written violence doesent seem to be too much of a bother for the forum rules, considering your header gives a warning for the contents of your little story, but what about ingame text, if so, where must we stop so we do not hurt someone and make them rip out their own eyes and dip them in acid?

This has been bothering me for a while so I ask now.
Also, if mild sexuality is allowed, to what extent?

This question has been in general debate since even I was new.

In general, the way I see it,you will know when you've crossed the line when you get an official smack for it.

Everyone here is a part of a different culture & will see things differently.

for example, Americans generally have a huge problem with sex & no problems with violence...& Europeans are generally opposite. throw that in with every other region on the planet, & someone, somewhere is bound to get offended by something & it doesn't matter if the content is major or minor.

I have written both major violence & sex in my stories, but since I'm smart enough not to add an "R" rating in the post description, Kids who shouldn't be reading stuff like that & are attracted like a magnet to the threads that DO have the "R" warning, never even notice my stuff & that's better than fine by me

So, what you mean to say is there is no visible border and as you will go on you will step on a mine at some point without warning.

Well, won't say i cannot agree with the regional theory, however, the ingame actions cannot be "flaged" as R, so, if, for example, a phantom rps, where would they need to stop?

So what do we do now?

In my opinion , things like these should not be restricted. If you are forced to put a big "RATED R" sign in the tile , so be it. I am saying this because, personally, I hate restrictions while writing, it just kills my buzz, and sometimes I get so wrapped in my own work that I forget those restrictions anyways ( essays are always a major drag in school for me 'cause I write too much...)

Besides , if we had to hold back on the gore/sex/whatever else , we would end up with rather bland terrorists...

Forum is one thing, in game is another.
The younger ones amongst us don't tend to read to much on the forums because they want to get on and play. In game though it's different.
When my son started here, he was ten. My daughter is now starting and she is now ten. I would be rather 'upset' if someone started using sexual themes. Someone has already said to her some things that made my toes curl. My son has been sworn at as well.
I let 'cruising to catch up' and 're-engaging' pass because, while I point it out to the offenders, it is only a game and I give them the benefit of the doubt but swearing does not pass me so easily. Even if it is 'RP'.

Well, even IN RP, you can't swear here, well, not the 'badbadbad' words.... And yeah, ingame it could be more of an issue, because that's where all the -kids- want to be, not on the forums.

The thing is, agree or disagree with anything said, & it doesn't matter. Lots of people get offended over things that others consider 'no big deal' but, as we have to try to maintain a bit of a family-friendly forum, there have to be limits for the good of the whole...granted, some limits are not easily defined till the limit is crossed...but that's just a risk you have to take if you plan on surfing the edge of 'acceptable' & have no right to complain if one day you discover the line is crossed & the offending posts are removed.

It only takes one person to bitch about something to create a fecalstorm over it, so if you think that what you wanna post possibly will result in losing said post, & you can't handle that, then don't post it to begin with.
