Gallic Royal Navy General History Overlay
The Gallic Royal Navy was formed shortly after the crippled French sleeper ship reached Ile-de-France in 84 A.S. In the beginning, the main agenda of the Gallic Royal Navy was space exploration and searching for the other sleeper ships of the former Alliance. With the passage of time and the isolation of Gallia, as well as space flight becoming accessible to many groups and corporations, including criminals, the Gallic Royal Navy switched to internal security tasks; however, they continued to maintain a large number of capital ships and several research projects determined to create superior ships and weapons in case war with the other Houses ever occurred. Today, the Gallic Royal Navy is a powerful military force that can counter any threat to the Crown inside or outside the borders of Gallia.

The Gallic Royal Navy has been fighting a long war with Gallic rebels known as the Council since 748 A.S. over the misguided idea that the Royalist policy of isolation and preparation for total war is detrimental to Gallia and that the current government is oppressive and corrupt. The war ended for a time, but the rebellion that started in 794 A.S. on the planet Marne is universally considered the beginning of the Second Gallic War, a struggle that continues to this day.

The ultimate goal of the Gallic Royal Navy is a war to end all wars against the other former Alliance Houses, establishing dominance over the entire Sirius Sector. The Gallic Royal Navy has zealously pursued this goal by constantly building ships, researching military technology, gathering intelligence, stealing technology, and training new recruits. However, this grand plan was put on hold by the Council when they managed to capture parts of the Gallic border systems, break through the minefields separating Gallia from the rest of Sirius, and make contact with the other Houses. The Gallic Royal Navy is currently dealing with the threat of the rebels and does not have the resources to worry about the foreign houses until they are put down.

Available ships
Gallic Royal Navy Usable ships:

XJ-1 ''Caracal'' Class Gallic Light Figther.
Rank Required: Levy
Generally used by the recruits and riff-raff of the Gallic Royal Navy, the Caracal is easily replaced and discarded, making it perfect for use during training.

XJ-2 ''Serval'' Class Gallic Heavy Figther.
Rank Required: Levy
Used by the somewhat 'advanced' recruits, the Serval has that little extra bit of armour capable of protecting its pilot, possibly delivering him or her straight into the ranks of the Gallic Royal Navy.

XJ-3 ''Lynx'' Class Gallic Very Heavy Figther.
Rank Required: Men-at-Arms
The sword and the shield of the Gallic Royal Navy, this ship is used by Royal Guards and combat troops alike; the Lynx is the pinnacle of Gallic fighter construction.

BXJ-5 ''Cougar'' Class Gallic Bomber.
Rank Required: Men-at-Arms
Where as the Lynx is the sword and shield, the Cougar is the hammer, designed specifically to take down hostile capital ships, domestic and foreign alike.

Gallic ''Perilous'' Class Gunboat.
Rank Required: Knight
While this gunboat is designed as a support ship rather than a brutality vessel, the Perilous is indeed in a grave danger to all enemies, whether alone or supporting the fleet.

Gallic ''Obstinate'' Class Cruiser.

The Obstinate is the soul of the Gallic Royal Navy. With both amazing offensive and defensive capabilities, the Obstinate is seen throughout the entire kingdom of Gallia.

Gallic Royal Navy ''Valor'' Class Battleship.

The iron fist of the Gallic Royal Navy, the Valor is the pinnacle of capital ship evolution in the entire Sirius Sector. With superior weapons, advanced armor, an excellent power plant and a crew of the most veteran captains in Gallic space, the Valor is truly a force to be reckoned with.

The refusal to comply with orders of a superior officer will result in a military trial and, if found guilty, the soldier will receive a dishonorable discharge and possibly a public execution. Desertion, espionage and treason are crimes punishable by death.

Respect and Image: Men and women representing the Kingdom of Gallia are expected to be respectful toward every Gallic citizen, be it a noble or commoner. All soldiers of the Crown are expected to talk in a civilized manner. An inability to do so is to insult the language of the Kingdom, and will be considered a crime.
To voice an opinion that could be seen as support for enemies of the Crown or to speak against the Crown is forbidden and will be punished severely.

Valor and Courage. Men and women under the military service of the Crown are expected to obey his orders without hesitation. The enemies of the Crown are expected to be hunted and destroyed by a soldier unless otherwise specified by the chain of command. I don't think I need to say that I support this..
I'm in it, so I'm a bit biased, but eh.
What to say, a competent leadership with people who have a sense of roleplay, fair play and logic, and are capable of giving the Gallic Royal Navy the proper leadership it deserves.
Hopefully with more Gallic factions going official, there'll be an up in faction activity and Gallia will be better populated.

Here's to the future.

I would like to apologize for the caustic opinions I voiced related to this faction recently. Though I still feel they were well founded back when I first formed them, today they are unreasonable. I am truly sorry for any feelings hurt and psyches jarred; it was not my intention.

I left the faction -- back then, for those reasons -- but if I was ever to join any military faction, the GRN would be my first choice. That is, as soon as Gallia rises to level with our established Houses. Not only do I find the role-playing possibilities intriguing, but more importantly, the faction is backed by motivation and conviction. These leaders impress on my a sense of competence; they seem to recognize and sufficiently realize the virtues that I value.

The bread of the request is likely high-quality, as these community members are likely those who know the material best. I have no quarrel with it.

Yes I do!

I will not stand by complacently while you so severely and ridiculously attempt to vanquish any hint of practical applicability of this beauty in the name of rank hierarchy. If the GRN does not recognize the tactical importance of these ships, all your military strength will count for nothing!

I understand that you might want to emphasize the reasoning behind rank-based allowances, but I suggest you also consider the elation your recruits will feel if they are given a cutting-edge interceptor compared to the uncertainty they are likely to feel flying the easily-expendable thinly-plated boit you make it out to be.

Morale is important, but even if it wasn't, you are doing the greatest class of warships in Discovery a great injustice!

We have some people like JihadJoe (or two others, forgot.) using the light figther as their primary ship. To me, it seemed that, IRP, the navy would use such ships to train their recruits. Light and easier replaced than an actual fully armoured and kitted VHF.

Good proposal, but I don't think Gallic factions are being considered until 4.86...

Well, paint me blue and call me Grandma.

...Actually, don't.

This has my support, then.

I think it would be proper to add also ships that aren't purely combat vessels to the list. Maybe you wish to leave the Train out of the list (I think your ID allows it), but the Freighter shouldn't be a problem. Even if you don't plan on using it in everyday work, it will surely find good use in special events.

To the proposal in general: I'm glad the GRN is among the first Gallic facitons to apply for official status, I believe that in its current state it is fit for the role.

Will be done shortly. Or, whenever you'd be on your GC, hai grandma?

I like you. Almost 100%. The thing i don't like about you is that you do not help people to aquire a Supernova to their fully outfitted and GRP-IDed Cougar, when they can't buy it due to a slight reputation problem with the GRN.

In a brilliant tactical movement, i charged backwards.

It's the gallic royal navy. Navies fight alot. Having a freigther in the standard list doesn't make much sense to me personaly. Sure, it may be used for a special event and whatnot, but the navies' main focus is the battlefield.

@ Argonaut : We might help you if you're having difficulties with the rep, but we're not there to spoon feed you. The GRN Unofficial player faction started out with just two people who manually worked their way up, too. This was before the depots became known. Besides, we might not even be able or want to help you at a certain point. I preach how it should be fun for all 24/7, but when we're having our own fun we really don't want to swap to something else. I think that goes for alot of people here.
