Openlancer is NOT playable yet, however we have made substantial progress towards that goal and have made the first Starblazer maintenence release, availible here.

This is a screenshot of our progress.
  • Notable new features
  • A functional menu
  • A new logo
  • Normalmapping and HDR shader have been implemented (visible on metal plates in screenshot)
  • Database engine is functional and working.
  • Code now resides in one EXE
  • Less things are hardcoded, allowing for more flexibility. By the next release, nothing except the location of the config file will be hardcoded.

Openlancer is a free, open-source, community driven developmental effort to create a new space-sim in the spirit of Freelancer. Its primary features are a fully explorable game world and a dynamic universe. It has inherent mod support and a list of features 50 pages long.

Great job, can't wait until it comes out and I can actually (at least try to) have a variable economy!

Keep up the good work guys.
