I have this little project wherein I try to replace the Outcast Dreadnaught with an Outcast-looking model. I think it rocks. Unfortunately for me, I am a noob and haven't figured out how to use Milkshape (and my trial is running out fast). Therefore, in this thread I will post all my worries and woes and hope some charitable soul comes by to Save Our Ship. Anybody who posts here gets their name put in the credits (barring stupid people withouat any advice).
If anybody tells me to go to TLR I will scream and yell because nobody notices and answers me. You people post every day, and therefoe are awesome. And so, without futher ado, I will ask you to play with me a friendly game of SAVE OUR SHIP!
First problem is Milkshape. If anybody has a better alternative that doesn't take money, please, tell me know so I can write an angry letter telling the People who Make Milkshape that They Suck ™.
I can't select individual faces. I click, and nothing highlights. I click and drag, and half the ship highlights. SOS!

Gmax = 3ds max only free (and without a native renderer), the only thing with gmax is there is no cmp export plugin for it, i use it to model and texture but i still have to use milkshape 3d to export it into something freelancer can use.

I know. That's another project I'm working on. The dreadnaught comes first, but a bomber and a freighter (about the size of a gunboat) are in the works. Hopefully more simple than this monster.:crazy:

Yes, I remember seeing those (back when I was watching the forum but couldn't gt the account maker to work). I've pretty much passed those by-I thought it looked pretty, but the wingspan was so large it would invariably have asteroid poblems, and make a huge target, to boot (Not that this one doesn't, but it looks sturdier). Also, there'd be problems positioning the camera. (Not to undermine the Duke's work at all (runs to live on Mars))

Yes, that's another thing I've been thinking of. Trying to do the Anubis's design might be something of a problem. I've got a couple unique designs I made for a book a while back, though; the one's I'm thinking of would be difficult to model and don't really fit the Order motif, but they look cool. Definetely something to give a try.
