PAGE ONE: BASIC INFO AND HISTORY

The AWC Acropolis, the Acropolis is one of Asgard’s newest ships, during the SA war, the cruiser (named the “Fenris” while under SA control) was attacked, and disabled by the 80th Blue Lions in our bid to gain a foothold in Alaska, the ship was to be captured. Soon after the area was secured by the AW and Bs strike force, a Bs| Repair ship was deployed from Planet Toledo, to tow the cruiser to Omicron 100, deep inside Order territory, so that the crew could be interrogated, to try to find out more information about the SA forces in the system.

Just as the attachment was braced between the Bs tow ship, and the cruiser, a large SA strike force, came into sensor range of the small convoy. Their objective was not to attempt to save their crewmen, but to stop the Bs getting their hands on them, no matter what was necessary. They attacked their own ship, completely ignoring the enemy ships. Only 10minutes after the strike force arrived, the cruiser had been reduced to a flying wreck, major damage had been sustained to the hull, life support systems had failed, and it scans of the vessel indicated that there was no life onboard, though the strike force was no more, the cruiser had very little left to offer anybody, but, oddly, Admiral Gezza requested the repair ship pilot to tow the ship to Livadia shipyards. He said he had “great plans” of what the burnt out wreck was capable of.

After some negotiations, it was agreed. The tow ship would tow the ship all the way to Freeport 11, where AW repair ships could take over the job of towing the hull to Livadia. 3 Black Squadron Nephthys fighters launched from Toledo to help with the escort. The convoy now consisted of 4 CTE -4000 Griffin Light Fighters, 1 CX Series Scimitar Light Fighter, 3 015A Nephthys Very Heavy Fighters and 2 CTE -6000 Eagle Very Heavy Fighters.

After 3hours of constant Nomad attack, the convoy entered Omicron Gamma, the attacks had taken its toll on the convoy, both Eagles had been destroyed, and 2 of the 3 Nephthyss had retreated after taking severe damage, but the worst part of the escort had passed, and the convoy proceeded to Omicron 74 without problems. When it arrived, it was positioned inside one of the shipyards bays, and work slowly began the process of transforming the burnt out old wreck into what has proved to be a deadly strike vessel.

The ship was decommissioned in 815A.S. after 10 years of service to the Asgards. The ship had suffered heavy damage after engagements with the Nomads and was deemed to be beyond repair. The plans for the vessel were sold back to Deep Space Engineering, though the amount was not disclosed by either side.

PAGE TWO: R&D AND RECONSTRUCTION

Corinth Research station, one of the best research available to the AW, was tasked with coming up with a design for the sensor array, power generators, a propulsion mechanism, and shielding systems. While the Livadia were tasked at rebuilding the hull to the blue prints provided by the designers on Corinth.

After 8 months, and 94 drafts later, the final blue prints we’re drawn up. The engineers had managed to figure out a way of increasing armour ratings of the standard cruiser, redesign the engines, add an entirely new power core, with 2 heat sinks to the forward cannon so that chances of it melting would be minimised. The new weapon system was also redesigned, tested and approved for use.

A few missile turrets from the original ship were still active, three Corsair fast fire anti-fighter turrets were installed, and two Outcast Inferno Cruiser turrets had to be adapted to fit in with the Zoner power systems. Reconstruction of the basic hull had been completed on the 17th April, 10months after it was originally captured by AW forces, and the adaptations to the original design took just 10 days, and it had completed testing on the 27th of April. At 1620 on the same day, the Acropolis was launched, then under the temporary command of Admiral Christopher Snipes.

PAGE THREE: CURRENT INFORMATION

Because of their lack of raw fire power, the Blue Lions had only been able to disable, or disarm capital ships, but with the Acropolis as fire support, the 80th could destroy enemy fighters, while the forward gun gave it the strength required to attack enemy capital ships. It is well suited for its job, its thin shape means that it can travel through rock fields with relative ease, the two inferno cannons mean that they can do serious damage to enemy shields, while the forward gun gave the brunt of the hull damage.

The Acropolis, though it’s property of the Blue Lions, is still used to help with offensive and defensive operations, and has had successful tours assisting the 282nd and receives its orders directly from Admiral Gezza. The current commanding officer of the Acropolis is Lieutenant Commander Jack Niven.
