My first goal was t acquired some money (using a trader i managed to get 100 m) then i planed to get a bomber fighter gunboat or something and play with more shooting action (less trade, mining....) since this trading and going back and forth was not exactly fun (it was in the start now it isn't anymore)

So what now

which fraction to apply, what ship to buy, who to be..... can some of the experienced players advise me, post links of things i should read, for now i don't want to read all the fraction history (i plan to read it while playing) so i really need an advise:)

Firstly. There is no definete ship to buy which is 'the best' Go with what suits you. Find a faction you like, and build up an RP character from that faction. You don't have to join the official faction however, you can stay 'independent' and still RP as that faction.
Still, Listen to the Official Faction if there is one if you decide to stay independent.
Secondly. Looking at your funds, I'd say you could buy up to a GB. However, different ships fulfill different roles, and you should take some time to find out which role you enjoy most, then make that ship class.
It's probably best to start with a fighter, to test the waters, that way, if you don't like that factions RP, it's not too late to change.

Hope I was understandable, PM Me if you'd like me to explain more, I'm not likely to find this topic again.

Hello there and welcome,

A good place to start is to ask yourself some questions. Do you enjoy playing by yourself or in the company of other players? If you enjoy playing this game on your own, then create an independent character. If friendship and camaraderie appeals to you, then I highly recommend you join a player faction.

Your long-term enjoyment of Discovery will most likely not be based on what ship or guns you have, but in the company of others as you work to accomplish a shared goal.

There are several wonderful player-based factions here. See which factions are the most active during your time zone and start from there.

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions.

Disco RP is not about buying the biggest ship and acquiring the best weapons so you can look down to everyone else. The people who do this are called lolwutters/pew pews, they have little to none roleplay.

If you really want to enjoy Disco you should RP more, start by writing a story for your character. Remember: Roleplay is the thing that matters the most.

In one phrase: Have fun.

Things you should know if you don't already:

0. Read the rules.

1. Disco is a RP server. That means getting the "best" ship with the "best" code-equipment will do you no good if you don't come up with who your character is. You'll end up feeling cast away from the community as a whole.

2. If you don't know what RP (Role-Play) is, try googling it for a bit. Basically is playing a role in a play that has no script. You come up with a character and decide what are his goals and ideals and play his role according to them. In a simple exemple I could be a Bretonian Police Officer who has a bad attitude but takes his duty very seriously. On game I'd be seen hunting down pirates and pestering Traders/Smugglers to be sure they are not carrying something they aren't allowed to.

3. About deciding who your character will be: There are lot's of ways of doing this. Most involve reading through the forums and the wiki, where there's not much I can do for you. Other than that, a tip: I see you have made a powertrader, and by powertrader I mean a character that has no purpose other than make money. Try turning him into a "real" character to feel how role playing is. Take your time to make his story - it doesn't need to be big, it just has to give you and other players an idea of who he is - and his personality. Is he an explorer who left his home planet a long time ago and misses it deep inside? Is he a cold-blooded pirate with nothing on his chest but a sack of gold? An so on...

4. Set up his equipment according to number 3. It's wiser to go with guns/ships that match his style, however if you don't, you better come up with explanations for it. If he's a Freelancer, he should be using a Ship of the Civilian type, etc.

5. Above all have fun. That's easier said than done, I know, but the best way to do this is by socializing. Don't restrain yourself. Talk with other players. Money is not everything. Pvping is not everything. And remember one thing: Although your character may face enemies on game, out of it it's a whole another story. We're all players. We're all humans. We'll make mistakes and so will you. It's up to you to befriend us all and recognize them, or decide to shut the door and keep by yourself.

Whatever you chose: Welcome to discovery. =]

If i may say so.. i'd say go in for a faction.

It'll double the fun you have here on disco...
If you need help in deciding which faction to join, you can send me a PM anytime you want:)

Cheers,
~XO

thanks for all your replays i read all d&d rules even the gm book but that's all i have to say about rp, i played a few games on my pc similar type:)

As far as power trader you are absolutely right this character had none other functions then to remember how the game works since i didn't play it for a long long time and earn some money to begin building my "real" character i presumed you need some money to get into a fraction and i wanted to buy my self a bit better ship so i can do non profitable stuff (in my story my char would of have inherited some money from a distant relative that died:))
So my real play here is about to begin.

I read the rules about 2-3 times so don't worry about that i did my reading but since there are so many fractions i can't read about all of them , actually i can but i was thinking that maybe some of you could recommend me a fraction then i would read about it and see if i like it.

For start i am just looking for a fraction....aka ppl to play with and have fun.

Of course i will be reading wiki and forums to get to know the fraction but i am sure you all have different opinions about them and i would be more than interested in hearing them.

Or i guess i could just pick one and go with it and leave it if i really don't like it or i get to like something else:)

You play....the game....

I suggest getting a better transport. Then buy a few fighters.
