I'm currently working on some ideas for possible guild-ish based ships (though the guild idea isn't even that far along)
I was wondering, perhaps slacker than searching the forums but none-the-less, how might one go about offering designs for future discovery mods for implementation?...
as well, anyone know about importing/exporting models with maya? I've used it in past 3d-modeling, got 3dsmax recently, never liked it as much though, can maya be used?
perhaps my inpiration and playing of this mod of freelancer will end up causing some kindof creative-productive activity, I can only hope.

Post a sketch and someone may take you up on it. Currently (and I don't see this changing unless some hacker/programmer types get very busy) Milkshape is the only program that can export freelancer ship models. Not sure if milk will read Maya files natively (see their website). As the Lancer's Reactor site seems to be down at the moment (hopefully not for good), you can download a 2MB ship creation tutorial PDF file via Drizzt4.0's ship creation tutorial 1.5
Milkshape will import FBX files from Maya. I do believe that you might have to find the plug in for that or else it is already available with the program. Check the preferences section in Maya to see if the plugin is there.
