Why We should keep the Cruise changes
  1. It makes it fairer for pirates AND traders
  2. Its realistic
  3. It has no bearing on you unless you want to avoid using your thruster
Ok. In a nutshell, it makes things better if your a pirate and if you are a trader. Traders now dont have to worry about the pirate cruising towards them being able to engage immediately upon arrival. At the same time, pirates can count on their CDed target not being able to instantly 3 shot them.

If FTL speed in freelancer is marked at 1000u/s, since tradelanes go that fast and thiose are FTL, 350u/s is 35% the speed of light. Does anyone but me think that you would need a lot of power to maintain that?

Even if you get CDed by some NPCs (or a pirate, i suppose) you can use your THRUSTER (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thruster) to survive until you get power back. Also, you have a massive armada of bots and bats.

In fact, here is a video of a Rhino cruisin so you can SEE what this patch does http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvPTGkCGD_8

Thank you.

This thread is pointless and a clone of the 'remove cruise drain' one, just with another headline.

no, its not. The other one is terribly biased against this, and this one is terribly biased for it.

Well;, if the trader instantly kills the pirate, either the pirate shouldn't be pirating or the trader is sanctionable.

And the last time a Pirate cruised toward me and tried to pirate me was... well, never.

Well to the tradelanes statement, you travel faster than 1000 whatever/s in them, only the display stops showing it after 999. You can check that by watching at the map while using them or checking the intervals in which the gates pass by. Secondly to the energy consumption of keeping this speed, since we are in an almost perfect vacuum, you would only need energy for acceleration, not for the traveling itself. I also think that this energy comes out of the fuel and not from the ships energy core, which is mostly in place for powering the weapons. By the way, how can you speak of realism when it comes to travelling faster than the speed of light? As far as i know, it is impossible, at least for "conventional" matter.

you'd need a warp drive that moves the space your ship is in instead of you, space can go faster than light as far as we know.

But the point is getting a FIGHTER sized ship at 35% the speed of light would need a LOT of fuel and power for a conventional rocket, so I doubt a cruise engine is one.

emediate recharge, and it would be next to perfect.
I did just some missions, its painful, instead of cruising in and shooting its now, break at 3,5k distance, and thrust for 20 sec to reach the fight.

what would be useful would be if NPCs obeyed this rule as well.

When you cruise and want to run with cruise and with CMs how will you be able to drop CM if you have no energy to drop them? and then how can you cruise away at all from fights or players?

I don't think pirates or traders ever had those problems. If they weren't the lolwutting, completely incompetent kind anyway.

For the Core.
