I was thinking about the differences between selling ships and codenames/items, and I think now that ships are so much easier - you don't actually have to meet the person, which is really bad for people in obscure timezones like I am.

So I was thinking, why not make it the same for items? Here's my idea.

/senditem (itemname) (character)

You would only need to send 1 item at a time, with a 1 minute cooldown. The 1 minute would make it alot easier for people to transfer more than 1 item, though preventing people from spamming it.

On the receiving end, a message would pop up saying you have an item waiting for you. Then you would type something like

/takeitem (itemname) (amount)

This of course, is just in case people don't have enough cargo.

Then, to further prevent abuse of powertraders sending items to themselves, have a maximum of 10 of any 1 item waiting for you. Also, make it that the /takeitem also has a cooldown of 1 minute.

So, /summon cannon and would this work?

88Flak mod has a send item command, charges a small fee of credits per use.
Only allows for transfer of equipment, no commodities allowed.

I don't think we need it. In-game deals are fun, and an opportunity for pirates/police to participate. The idea that the two ships wouldn't have to come to the same location doesn't appeal to me. I recommend using a third party as a courier, and insure your cargo.

That's all nice and lovely ... but how the heck can you do this if yu are 7 hours before the dealer ... or after or whenever ... the main problem is with time zones ...

Fe. I wanted to buy some stuff from a dealer, but couldn't arrange the meeting, since I was rather working or sleeping when the other guy was able to be on ...

If you figure out a way to do this Hribek , I will say that we don't need this command ...

But right now, I belive it would be quite useful ....

There will always be people trying to abuse things ...

But I don't really know how they could do that ...

Abusing this could be quite simple.
A bio-unit could harvest a code unit in Omega 55. Then utilize the /senditem command to instaneously teleport the item to the weapon dealer ship in New York. This eliminates the need to physically transport the code unit from point A to point B. This also means that the code unit could then not be pirated from the transporting bio-unit.

Just make it so you can send items only when docked.

As long as you can only send them while docked, with a moderate fee, and a large cooldown ( half an hour, maybe?) I don't think it would be abused.
