ok, here's the situation. I want to make a freelancer ID and IFF zoner gunboat. Now in my RP I want it to be home but also a work station for a small time escort service (escorting ships for you sick minded out there). Now the question. Can gunboats attack transports/freighters? I've heard of a rule that says that capital class ships can't attack transports/freighters and also in-game a message that pops up says that you can't intentionally ram a capital class ship gunboat or larger. Does this mean that Gunboats are classed as caps and can't attack freighters? The reason why I'm asking about freighters specifically is because A). I'm wanting to escort miners and most pirates that I've come across during my mining sessions are transports, and B). I know for sure that they can attack everything else (but you'd have to be an epic pilot to take on a battleship or cruiser solo, or just really slow minded).
Be careful tho. A Pirate transport with a MK8 armor can solo a gunboat easally.
Hell, I soloed a slave liner in one and four of those transports ripped apart a corsair dessie...

I was thinking of going down the bomber road but I know that I can't aim really great with bombers/fighters. They are much to fast for me. Where as gunboats seem to be the right mix of power and agility for my pitiful pvp ability. I want to be able to offer some sort of service and possibly be able to frighten the pirating transport away so that I don't have to attack them.

And yeah, back on Topic. The rule only applies to Cruisers and Battleships.
Hmm, would freelancers be able to fly them? or are they just for the unlawful side of life.
Owning a pirate transport is illegal in Liberty, AFAIK. I don't know what its status is in the other Houses. Having it would certainly make you stand out as an 'unlawful' Freelancer.

If that was true, LPI and LN would have a field day destroyin' dem junkerz.

It's not illegal unless you're smuggling, in which case a stiff fine is heading your way and/or being blown up, depending on attitude.
