Bounty Hunter ID Wrote:[...] Can fulfill lawful bounty contracts, [...]
I have a question regarding that ID regulation, which is to be found as a segment of the Bounty Hunter ID. If a lawful authority places a bounty on a ship or ships belonging to one of the lawful Houses that are in war with the authority issuing the bounty, is a ship equipped with a Bounty Hunter ID allowed to engage the ship being hunted?
Example: The Liberty Authorities place a 500,000 credits bounty on Herr Jaegermainshaft, a Rheinland Military officer. Bounty Hunter Jack spots the Rheinlander cruising around in Texas. Is Jack allowed to engage and destroy Herr Jaegermainshaft's vessel, only because there's a lawful bounty on him?
I'm asking this because I've seen (indy) BHG ships assisting the Libbies in Texas, who were fighting various RM forces. The Hunters argued that they were working for the Bounty placed on all Military vessels. Even though that was several months ago, today I encountered a similar situation, but now I was flying my Bounty Hunter ship. I didn't even think of attacking the Military vessels until a Mandalorian asked me if I was allowed to do so. At that time, I replied that I wasn't, but later started a debate about it in the [RM] chat, the sides were divided, I couldn't get a clear answer out of anyone.
Because of that, I think this should be settled here. Does a Bounty Hunter ID allow me to attack other lawful ships if there's a lawful bounty on them?
BHG, whether indies or official, should not be attacking House military, police or intelligence forces, or house corporations, or indeed anybody 'lawful'. Otherwise they'd swiftly lose their ability to operate Sirius-wide.
Seeing as i'm a Libertonian bounty hunter i do sometimes, but very rarely, go after bounties on RM ships, i mean i think most of the lawful bounty boards have bounties on other house militaries/polices and to a bounty hunter money is money....
Of course, running with the RM/LN example, the RM is classified as an unlawful entity in Liberty's borders. Same for KNF/BAF. I used to collect on KNF all the time in my Bretonian BHG, as long as it was in Leeds it was OK. At least, that's what I've heard. Whether it's against the rules are not isn't really important, it's whether or not in-RP you'd wanna collect on the bounties and run the risk of potential ramifications for the Guild as a whole (say, you space a few too many RM, and all of the sudden the BHG is getting some cold treatment in Rheinland).
Hmm...I think Senor Lens is right.
I reckon you can't take any contract on a lawful target if you're a memeber of the guild (BH ID).
Taking contracts on lawfuls is the job of a Mercenary isn't it?
He can collect bounties, right across the board but a BH is a little more restricted.
The BHG| and BHG|Core are not taking part (anymore) on any of the sides of the wars in Sirius. However, there are valid bounties in Bretonia, Liberty, and there were in Rheinland on their opponents.
Say for example there was a Kusari transport encountered in New London. Said transport is bountied by the Bretonian government. Bounty hunters are freely allowed to collect upon it. This discussion was held ages ago by the Guildmasters. The BHG| is just not going after the warships at all. We work in all houses.
