Isaac Drake was born and raised in Bretonia on Planet New London, though he got a change to visit much of Bretonian and Liberty space during his youth. His parents, Richard and Amelia, owned and flew for a small but lucerative shipping company, mostly running goods for smaller companies from Bretonia to Liberty and vice versa. Isaac learned the basics of fighter and freighter piloting while still young, and planned on taking a place in the family business when he completed his schooling.
During his third year of University, his parents and their escort were attacked and killed by a group of Outcasts. Isaac was devastated; he ended up dropping out of school and spent most of his time drowning his sorrows in cheap booze. Eventually, after one too many nights of waking up in a gutter with a killer hangover, Isaac managed to pull himself out of his depression. Fortunately, his parents had a decent amount of money in the bank, which Isaac inherited. He invested what he had in a freighter and some cargo, and has been flying ever since.
