I have two miners and have been having fun with them - shootin' rocks, haulin' ore, gettin' chased by fiendish pirates and corporate rivals.

First question (to the Power that be): I'm kind of bummed out with the Liberty-wide mining nerf. Any chance of at least turning the Copperton Field back on. I personally prefered mining the copper.

Second question to you IMG miners: My IMG miner has failed to find any Niobium fields worth mining. Actually, I only found one in Tau-37: the drop rate was anemic, 1-3 units of ore per rock. I've been to the Leeds Field, flown around T-23 and T-37. Has Niobium been turned off?

Third question to the BMM miners: How's business?

Feel free to PM me if you don't want to publicly share any trade secrets.

If you're getting bad drop rates restart FL, sometimes it gets a bit bugged. If you've done that, I'm not sure, all I've done is robbed Niobium ore, not mined it.

The copperton field will probably never be decent, because the sell point is 2 short hops away.

Simple solution - lower the buying price. I'd rather have a good droprate and a lower buying price than a poor droprate and an astronomical buying price.

Before the nerf, Copperton had a droprate of 5 - 13 and most rocks yielded.

So if I go with IMG, the place to mine Niobium is T-23. Just need to find the right spot then.

If you think you are getting bad drop rates, shoot as many rocks as possible in 10 minutes, using the correct equipment, and record how much you get.

Factions should get somewhere around 1000 per 10min, IMG a bit below that, Miner ID really below that.

If you're not getting that report it here: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=50516

Oh, and read the second post of that thread to find out how to 'do mining right'. The template is "low drops/high profits" to try and encourage teamwork.

The copper in Colorado got nerfed in the last week?

Last week I could fill a mining ship to full in about an hour if that. Has this changed?

Meggido - doublin is your chance to shine with Gold. Explore for new fields added there, not the standard ones that are vanilla.

In leeds, you can try mining next to Kusari mining station. Droprate isn't so good (around 8) but you get your worth in 10 minutes if you're skilled.

As for taus, i really don't know. That's all I know from my Kishiro minings.
Although, I really do suggest going BMM if you have hard time coping with being pirated of all your ore. Kusari factions have nowhere to hide in dublin

Good.

Oh, you want details. Well, the BMM gold field isn't the field you're supposed to mine...you're looking for the independent gold fields. I tend to mine near the O49 JH as it really irks me when mines blow up my ore before they can be tractored.

Either that or the Beryllium field in Cambridge is decent too. Gold goes to Detroit, Beryllium goes to the Ring. Either way, it's decent profit and a decent return-commodity too. takes about 30-45m to fill a Hegemon, depending on how quick you are on the trigger and how focused you are at mining.

Cambridge has less rocks to shoot, but higher drops per rock. Dublin is a laser-fest, but lower drop-rates, they balance well.

And either way, it's not long spent in Liberty.

Pirates I can handle, but stingy drop rates get on my nerves, regardless of how super-duper the selling price of the ore is.

Still haven't had much luck with Niobium as an IMG miner. A bug more than likely. Reported.
