I noted a graphical lag in Newcastle today, in the cloud between Planet Hartlepool and Sunderland Research Station. Everytime I turn my ship in the direction of this cloud, the game becames slow. I dont get yellow or red lag signal, hence I call it a "graphical lag". Do someone knowns what is?
Yes, I've noticed it before in many new systems. It is because the systems are too big and have a lot of nebulas, hence your videocard struggles to render all the stuff that is on screen at the same time.
(If you find any mistake in my English, please let me know via a PM)
(Really, I speak terrible English, so please, tell me if I make mistakes. I'd like to improve it a bit )
I'm running an integrated graphics chipset, and mine is fine, even in Kusari. My Internet connection is crap though, ask anyone that plays with me.
I am a long-absent Supreme Commander, Executive Commander, Grand Admiral, Fleet Admiral, and Captain in the mighty Hellfire Legion. I have returned, and am on an urgent mission from Drake Thastus to return the Legion to its former glory, and to claim the galaxy for its own. Only then will I be able to rest.
RP Story (Still deciding whether or not to finish)
Well I don't have to much of a prob with Newcastle (using a 7800GT) though I do agree the system is rather large but that is nothing to do with graphics.
Ok that was pointless...
Kiggles:mellow:
I've been mildly miffed by one-shot weapons since their implementation, oh so long ago. I remember the days when fights were a matter of who could aim better, rather than who could aim a single shot. - Virus
Fwolf, I have the same problem. Too many asteroids and mines in the Newcastle field. In your Performance settings, try turning down the "space detail" and/or "effect detail".
(my first real post after returning to Disco!)
Dont even start on the graphics card discussions...or do I have to point out that the HD2900XT, despite having 320 stream processors, has more or less the same performance as the 8800 GTS which has 96, but the latter incurs less of a hit to the frame rate when jacking up the Antialiasing and Anisotrophic filtering.
On topic now, my older computer, armed with a FX 5700 (from the days I knew nothing about hardware....) and a 2.0 GHz Pentium 4, has real problems playing Freelancer, even if I turn off skype (which takes ~40% of my CPU. I get graphical lag in every system, maybe even the empty ones too, when playing on that pile of junk.
I think we need new minimum and recommended system requirements....
such as:
Minimum:
Intel Pentium D 805 or AMD Althlon X2 3800+
Radeon X series card or Nvidia 6600GT or higher
Recommended:
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 or AMD Athlon X 5200+
Radeon X1 series card or Nvidia 7600 GT
Maybe a bit on the conservative side, but its a start.
I just dont think computers that were meant to be able to handle this game can anymore. I used to play vanilla FL on my old computer, and it worked with no lag. But disco has added in so much good stuff, that the personal computers can no longer keep up. I think its got to the point where we need new system requirements...
