Some of the ship designs seem lacking in creativity, however. When you take a ship from a completely different game and remodel it in FL to the most minute details, give it the same name, and then make up some story about why it's in the FL universe, something is wrong. Case in point: the Raven's Claw that's for sale. Anyone else agree?
I do have a problem....
There are a few ships that just dont feel right. No offence to the ship creators but.
Revan claw, Revan Telon do not fit the FL universe. Also whats the deal with all the Taaidian ships.
Battlestar Galactice ? Starwars? homeworld? if thatis the trend, I would love to see KITT from knight rider in there with a fantastic story line to follow.
Id say the raven claw doesnt feel like FL at all, but the raven talon does fit in very well with the look of it and all the stuff on it a blablabla. JUST DONT TAKE AWAY MY RAVEN TALON!!!!
I agree that some ships should be replaced. Example: bounty hunter destroyer + battleship. these are star wars ships and have nothing to do with bounty hunters in FL whatsoever. I would like to pay somebody to model new ones based off of freelancer. (for the sso of course:))
Ah...you lot seem to be misreading some of what goes on here. It's the evnetual hope of the community to replace most of these extraneous models with our own designs for FL, based off of preexisting FL designs. I myself am working (albeit very slowly) on a replacement Outcast Dreadnought (found in the Outcast Gunboat thread [/Billboard]). Of course, it takes time and initiative, and some of that just isn't there.

actually im not. I actually would like to see all the non-fl ships (like ships taken out of a different game) replaced. I was just using the bounty hunter ships as an example
I wasn't talking about you, Flyer. I was writing before you'd posted.
I knew the bounty hunter destroyer was the Corellian Corvette, but what was the BH Battleship? Considering I'm a Star Wars nerd, I should by all means recognize it...

The Starwars battleships do not fit Freelancer. Just take a look on the Procurator Battlecruiser. Each one of those small blue dots on the bellow parts of its design are windows. Now just take a look on any vanilla battleship. See the difference, the Procurator is intended to be much more big than vanilla battleships, and its guns were turned smaller to reflect this. Actually this ship have the same lenght of the Rheinland Battleship, maybe a bit more.
The same thing happens with the Recusant. In fact, both ships are meant to be a new class of ship, bigger than the vanilla battleships, and hence more powerful, with more hardpoints for class 10 turrets and more armor. However, in Discovery they became, respectively, the Outcast Dreadnought and the Lane Hacker Spyglass, the two most beautiful battleships in Discovery.
(This does not bode well for my Shipwrighting attempt) I agree that some ships just don't fit in, particularly the one's from well known TV series and Films. Star wars material should be kept to Star Wars TCs, otherwise I find the spoil it. Star Trek stuff, thankfully, isn't present, but they would truly ruin it. The Talaidan craft, I'd never seen before to really they don't bother me that much at all, they fit in quite well I think. i agree, the Raven Claw and Talon, they don't fit in with the overall feel, they feel too atmospheric, rather than spaceborne craft.
