So, I am going to make a 'base' ship.

It will act like a player-controlled Barrier Gate. I have the whole idea centered around a mobile Junker-controlled 'Spaceport'-like installation.

I was thinking of using a Prison Liner. But that's a bit small. I was thinking something large, but the Prison Liner isn't large enough.

In my lack of self-knowledge, I seek aid. I was wondering what ship would be the best one for my purposes.

In what way does it need to be larger then a Prison Liner? Maybe look at the Zoner cruiser, and/or the Junker Salvager

I wanted something with a bit more mass, something that actually looks like it can hold fighters.

So, maybe a bit more 'bulky' feeling.

The Salvager doesn't really have that, it's just wide. It's too spindly, and it doesn't really have any place for fighters and similar sized craft to dock.

And it doesn't give off the right feeling.

Give the Slave Liner a try.

The Slave Liner would probably work. Unfortunately, I would then be on the receiving end of those annoying 'You're a Slaver!' comments.

Oh well. I may actually go with one of those. Now I just need about eighty million more credits...

Slave liner is a good ship, my junker flies one. It is quite large, slow, and has a bit of firepower too (11 rear turrets, 10 forward turrets, though all transport and no cap weaponry). It also has something that looks like a docking bay on the underside at midship.

Maybe a bit too much, but try the Liberty Assault Carrier.
That is, if the Slave Liner doesn't work. Always gotta have a Plan B;)
EDIT: Haha, after all, it is bulky

Well, the barge sounds perfect for this, minus the part where it has to be mobile. Plus it costs less than a LAC, so it makes a better plan B

Did you ever consider the Barge? I know that it's really slow and large but size is what you were looking for and it is a bit like a massive base.

Edit: hmm, I never noticed the post above...
