Greetings everyone.

Upon reviewing OSI's shiplist for escort fighters, it has come to my attention that the Virage class very heavy fighter is pretty much unused due to some inherited design-flaws.

The hulls original intent to make it a bomber has left the previous Zoner design-teams working on it's conversion to a Very Heavy Fighter with some restrictions concerning the placement of equipment inside the fighter... and quite frankly the result with an odd look.

[Link to big Picture]

This is why Omicron Supply Industries is offering a contract to redesign the hull of the Virage by means of a competition.

Of all raw design entries showing form and surface colouring, the best three will be awarded each a quarter of the total prize money, while the winner receives the remaining quarter upon delivering the finished blueprints, including the information about the fighters shield-bubble and such.

The requirements that must be met are the following:
● The design needs to reflect the recently adopted hull design, structure and colour of the new Zoner Capital class vessels (i.e. new Conference GB, Aquilon carrier, planned new Fearless design).

● If atmospheric / nebulae flight assist wings are present, they need to be retractable to save space when stored in a hangar-bay.

● The new designs properties and number of equipment hard-points have to remain the same as with the current one.

● Equipment hard-points need to be placed symmetrical and not be obstructed by ship parts... as i.e. the current design is in regards to the Cruise Disruptor / Fighter-Torpedo / Mini-Razor hardpoint.

● Last but not least... no more giant 'tazer-tubes' or boxer-noses please.

The three best designs and the winner will be determined through polls amongst the Zoner factions members and individuals contributing to the prize money.

The prize money currently consists of:
● 150 million credits sponsored by Omicron Supply Industries - OSI

● [color=#FFFFFF]100 million credits sponsored by the Bank of Dukes

● 50 million credits sponsored by the Cross family

● 50 million credits sponsored by Richard Wink

The total of 350 million credits will in the end be spent amongst the winning and the two follow-up designs as follows:
1-st place: 25% + 25% at finishing the blueprints = 175m

2-nd place: 25% = 87.5m

3-rd place: 25% = 87.5m
Further sponsoring by fellow Zoners will of course be thankfully accepted and added to the prize-money aswell.

The account OSI-Redesign.Funds is used to store the prize money.
Kind Regards
Reisiger Duke
OSI CEO

OORP part:

Plain simply, this is meant as a contest to redesign the Virage model into something that doesn't have a pair of giant tazers on it's back and a boxer-nose that obstructs the CD/Fighter-Torp/MR hardpoint.

I thought that beginning such a contest with some RP would give a way to explain IRP why I started this;)

Whether replies are made in RP as a designer / corporation or OORP is completely open.

__incoming transmission__

source: Gran Canaria
subject: Virage redesignning

Greetings. This is Richard Wink, commander of the Thetis. I too would like to see this ship redesigned, and therefore, to further inspire applicants, I am offering 50 additional million Sirius Credits to the winner. If the OSI would contact me concerning the details of where should I send the funds, I will be waiting.

Greetings Mr. Wink.

Thank you for your contribution, it is very much appreciated.

Your message is also making a good point about storing the prize money on a Sirius Banking Account, to clearly separate it from other financial transactions.

Thus the [color=#FFFF99]OSI-Redesign.Funds
account has been created to store said money.

I will also update the information instantly.
Kind Regards
Reisiger Duke
OSI CEO

here you go - a fun concept

its vaguely based on the eagle with a more sculptured bird head and without the very wide wings. instead it features a wider body all around along with a large single reactor drum on its back. i coloured the canopy, cause otherwise you d not be able to distinguish it from the hull.

* reisiger_duke drools uncontrollably...

This looks awesome!

Just one question: How does the cockpit look when viewing into the cut out triangle?

Can I order a few of these? Maybe 3 or 4 will do ...

Looks really nice, great work again, Jinx.

All I have to count is how many nights to sleep till I can get one of these ... ^^

Indeed nice work, Jinx.. as usual.

Maybe I'm mistaken, but it almost looks like the Havok and the Virage are built to be fighter/bomber brothers, or at least cousins?

If so, would a change in the Virage also mean a change for the Havok? I only ask because the canopy on the Havok is just hideous.. no offence to whoever made it.
