Hey Dusty, and other admins working hard on mining. We have been told that mining is in heavy beta atm and that it's fully experimental. But I would like to clap my hands twice (if not three times!) for the Dublin situation you've created.

Knowing Kusarians need ore, they can stretch to Leeds and Dublin to get it.
Knowing they NEED ore, that's exactly what they'll do.
BMM needs the ore too. For Bretonia, and for profits. They're not safe from Mollies, they're not safe from Kusari. And they know its a deadly situation to mine there.
Kusari also doesn't have a base to repair and restock there ( Hood is uncool for that ), while BMM and Bowex can organize some better defenses.

All in all, its an thrilling position - doesn't matter if I'm in my freighter just looking for BMM miner to make him drop the Emperor's gold, or that I'm in a miner myself with few escort miners, trying to mine out as much as I can in 30-45 minutes before we're spotted and entire Bretonia runs into Dublin.

The situation in Omegas can be the same. IMG should be crawling there more, with Kruger and Daumann on their back, harassing them about their minerals. Hessians and Corsairs are constant threat for RM to deal with, and ofcourse, every IMG vessel that decides to fire on Rheinland corporations.
The rewards at the moment are just. Thery're not overly high so someone can't take an advantage of low population on server and actually earn tons while having no risk, and they're not too low, so organizing few miners, few escort miners and two transports is a highly profitable task to earn cash with. Did I mention it's frikkin fun?

So please, keep in mind these conflicts that make the game awesome while you make that mining system for Sigmas and the people in Sigmas.
I wouldn't say mining is either broken or in beta concerning the actual roleplay value. From the mechanical side, I cannot really say. Yields look good to me every time I mine.

I have been in dublin as a kishiro miner and rarely mine any ore. I have been chased across there by BAF, a bretonian born IND, mollies, been driven 100k off the map, been supported by a kusari destroyer and accidentally fell into Chester escaping a couple of corsairs, all just trying to find a safe spot to mine.

Some of the most exciting and suspenseful times without earning a single credit. Amazing place to RP as soon as there's couple of people in there.

Gotta agree with Ivan about this. Although I am usually involved in the piracy side of mining, it does create lots of really good interactions, to counter all the lees good ones. I've even gone so far as to get myself a miner, though I've not yet found a group to go mining with. It's all good so far from my position.

Both niobium in the taus and stuff in omega-7 offer very good profits. I'm hoping that eventually Omega-7 will be crawling with Hessians, Corsairs and dead Miners. Likewise, Tau-23 with Gallic traders, Outcasts, CR, Kusari and a possibly some Bretonian ships. This was always the plan/hope; We will see.

No more adjusting (nerfing or buffing) for a while I think. Let's find out if people can find ways to use the current stuff.

Dublin really is a fun place to fly around now with the addition of miners.
With the miners come more pirates.
With the pirates come more lawful.
With the pirates, lawful and miners come the Mollys!

They tend just to float around chewing on anyone they encounter.

Give more power to the GUNZ ! I can't hit the miners in Omega 11 before they dock:(

Nah, in fact, the miners are nice, very nice even. Having 30M in a single shot is enjoyable.
Oh and give the GMG some work ! I want them to mine (and get pirated of course). If not, I vote for renaming the GMG to the GG (Gas Guild) cause they DON'T mine !

well, considering the niobium run, i'd think that there would be mroe people form kyusu scaning cargo and going into the details on what the niobium is for hehe

sao far though, i know for sure i've never been stopped, but i havnt been making continuous runs with it every day. and other people seem to still be delivering it in system rather than to other places that pay off more O.o so i dont know how soon pirates are gonna catch on to that run well enough.
