only purpose of this "alliance" seems to be just a convenience for the sairs as they get bases and gaians get some manpower

I'm quite surprised that the Gaians and Corsairs are allies on a full rep scale, because of these two things:

1) NLH tries to keep a distance from Corsair technology and bases, and blames them in a way for corrupting the original Gaian movement

2) Bombing of Cork. OK, it was attack against the Molly, but it certainly was not a very ecological thing to do

My 2 cents.

I don't think there is any real sense behind it. Another of those 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' things, like with Outcasts and Red Hessians. Gaians and Corsairs both hate Mollys and Outcasts. But other than that, the relationship doesn't make much sense at all.

Its one of those vanilla things that makes a very little sense, and was partially just a 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend' sort of thing i believe. I think most of the reasoning behind it was that the Corsairs neeeded bases in Bretonia from which to pirate/strike at the Mollys, and the Gaians had the same predicament as the Xenos, they were desperately short of friends, and the BPA were bearing heavily upon them.

Basically its easy to see why. Gaians keep pressure on bretonia from within, and in exchange gets weaponry and good ships.

The Corsairs on the other hand get advice of very skilled scientists about crops cultivation and basically nature development much needed on Crete.

Gaians shouldn't have any allies if they want to be "nature friendly" because every big power pollutes and does bad things against nature.

The NLH and MR are currently neutral-ish towards each other.
Coming from a Molly perspective, there's little reason for the Gaians to shoot at us other than their alliance with the Corsairs.
Realistically, the Gaians ought not to try make more enemies in Bretonia, which they did with this alliance.

It would also polarise opinion against them in the public's eye.
Hard to get your message of saving planets across when your mates are busy slaughtering innocent civilians and bombing entire planets to oblivion.

So realistically, the Gaians give up a lot of political clout, gain another enemy in Bretonia and essentially go further away from their ecological goals in return for getting the aid of one of the most vicious pirate organisations out there..in killing innocent people.

Makes sense to me:rolleyes:

That said, the Gaians are apparantly more normal pirates now with a smaller ecological 'old guard' type thing. However with the Bucs around, that sort of removes the purpose there. A return to their idealogical roots might be best for the Gaians and a fresh look at their diplomacy, which really is open to changes.

First of all, it seems really weird to me that the Gaians are allied to Kusari against Bretonia. Because that's the only reason why they're allied to the Corsairs, and why the Bretonians are so protective towards Outcasts.

The Gaians should mind their own business, protesting through acts of terrorism in Bretonia, and not deal with Corsairs and Kusari. It doesn't make much sense, the Corsairs are only present in Bretonia to plunder and destroy, and they'd most likely make a cesspool out of Gaia.

And Kusari, what's the deal with them ? I see more Gaians in Kusari than Bretonia, it's pretty pathetic.
