Well since you put ship crew in game...
how about they have some purpose?..
i mean... they could do at least something on ship... that would be cool :laugh:

Hmmm...

It could be used as a sort of an upgrade (like the armor upgrade)... but then there has to be a penalty that cancels it out, like cargo space & cost.

Don't know if the coding could be a problem though...:unsure:

they could boost something like:

-power output
-speed
-shield recharge
-manueverability

and lower one of the others

call each group something different to tell them apart. i don't know if it's possible but it sounds good.

For every Ships crew you buy, it increases the stats of one of your ships, but make it so that your Capital ships all have 50% stats when you buy them, and you must buy ships crew to get them to normal strenght.

It would seam role-play-ish, and I don't think it would be too hard to do either...

Oh, no, trust me, it would be... I'm positive it would be impossible, unless there's some random deep-buried file that I haven't found yet.

Denelo is right on this one. There are no files other than hardcodes that would allow something like this.

On other mods, they have equipment that increases your powerplant and other things. I have seen it. THis would not be impossible.

Yes it would. That's EQUIPMENT. You can't have COMMODITIES to increase stats. Also, that doesn't increase powerplants etc, that's buyable ones. As in, different units, not an upgrade, but the actual thing.
