I think it would be very helpful for traders if we put in the wiki a chart that describe status of each commodity in each House space. It could be something like that :

Column 1: Name of commodity
Columns 2 to 8: Status of the commodity in each House space (including Outcast, Corsair and Gallia system)
Status could be :
  • legal (anybody can transport it)
  • semi-legal (some faction can transport it [list of factions] or necessitate a license [who sells it], etc.)
  • illegal
The main advantage would be to have only one place to check on the wiki instead of reading each day all new posts on the forum in the eventuality of any change concerning commodities.

Of course edition of this chart should be allowed only to those who decides rules affecting commodities.

I'm playing a Zoner traveling in the whole Sirius system and I'm transporting almost all commodities so I would really appreciate if I can spend more time playing freelancer rather than reading the forum. I'm sure you can understand that.

Note that I would be ready to participate to the elaboration of this chart and its subsequent updates.

Thanks for your attention:

Moebus

Be aware that a Zoner whale must be flown with the zoner guard ID< which does not allow docking on house bases.

No longer a slave to the man!

Moved to the Discovery Wiki section.

I have this link for you. might come in handy regarding the contraband and illegal goods:
THE LAWS OF SIRIUS, Official Government Decrees Only

If anyone wants to create a wiki list, that link will come in handy.

Gonna link to this in the wiki editor's chat now. If the idea is approved of, I'll see what I can do.

Oh, and that'd be columns 2 to 9 - there are seven houses.
  • Federal Republic of Rheinland
  • Kingdom of Bretonia
  • Kingdom of Gallia
  • Imperio del Corsario
  • Kusari Empire
  • Liberty Republic
  • Nacion Maltesa

Overall a good idea, though it will take a lot of work to implement and more to maintain. Nothing against it but I don't see the ends justifing it. If you know where to look you can gather this information rather quickly. I won't deny it would be handie to have an all in one though. Kudos to the person/people that undertake it.

We do already have this: http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?titl...gory:Contraband... Admittedly though, some things are regulated that aren't on that list.

Nice idea though.:)

Here are the quotes from the wiki chat:

[20:56:01] Chris Shake: is it really that hard to just remember the 10 or so commodities that are contraband?
[20:56:57] Alex: But I guess he just thought it'd be a nice addition.
[20:57:46] Chris Shake: hey, if someone wants to make that, by all means go ahead.

I guess I'll give it a go.

Thanks for this information, I didn't know that page.
The other one (Laws of Sirius) is also useful but I feel it is still too long to check each House Laws every day because each page has its own structure.

That's why I think a chart for all commodities would be better.
I could create the chart on a wiki page (it's quite easy to do) but this is true that it will be time consuming to update it regularly if we have to keep on checking the forum. A solution could be that, when a new law affecting a commodity is applied then a mail could be send to those who upgrade the wiki (for instance to me if I am the only one to do it).

Another option would to create 7 pages on the wiki that describe the laws of the 7 Houses. If an unique template is used for these pages, then it would be easier to check the informations (I find wiki-website really clearer than the forum). Then the idea would be to use these pages as official ones for describing laws of Sirius and to erase those on the forum to avoid inconsistent informations between wiki and forum.

The chart page has been moved to Commodities wiki page however the informations reported differ with those found in the Laws of Sirius (forum). I don't know which source of information has been used.

Moreover, the restricted status are no longer explained (for instance if a commodity required a license or may only be transported by a specific faction/ID).

I propose we discuss of these changes here.

Moebus

ps: laws of Rheinland seem to need an update, does anyone know who can do that?

I thought the rheinland laws were updated fairly recently... oh well.

But anyway, currently Blodo is developing a new concept for the commodities table, at least he says he is.

Also, listing the full restriction on the table, that just makes it huge, cluttered and unusable. If specific restrictions are to go anywhere (which they should and probably will) they should go in the individual commodity pages, or perhaps as a rollover tooltip or collapsible cell on the main table.

PS. All this was discussed in the Wiki chat on skype. if you want in it PM me your skype name.
