Hola.
As some of you may know, im the leader of the Corsair Benitez family. I recently moved here from a Vanilla server, and im already a big fan of this mod and the RP server.
However, something bugs me allot...Corsair Ships. In an RP sense, the Corsairs are meant to be the best ship builders in Sirius, and their gunboat fits with this...but the rest of their capital ships fall very very short.
Firstly, the battleship Osiris, for those who dont know, was originally a Liberty prototype, stolen from the Shipyards in Alaska by the Order. Somehow, it ended up being sold by the Corsairs..with many now patroling Delta with Corsair captains. This seems very wierd, to see what is essentially a Liberty ship in the hands of the Corsairs.
Also, the Osiris' armour is worse than the Liberty Dreadnought, and it has less turrets. This is an RP flaw, as the Osiris was originally a prototype ship built for the Liberty Navy, and so therefore would be expected to be better than their standard Battleship.
Perhaps if we had a good Battleship, other Corsairs would be less likely to conduct invasions with 5 Osirises just to match their opponent's 1 or 2.

Now, moving onto our Cruiser, the Huntress. Im afraid I refuse to buy one. Its the Reman Warbird Scimitar out of Startrek Nemesis, and considering it's shape, it's way oversised. That makes it apparently as difficult to get through asteroids as a large dreadnought. Its also useless in combat, having tested one on a friend's private simulation server.

Even the Lane-Hackers have a decent Battleship, a small group of disgruntled Ageria employees, according to the game iteself. Our sworn enemies, the Outcasts have a huge Dreadnought, and an excellent Cruiser.

Onto the main issue...my family want to buy Cruisers...and I dont want to begin powerplay, so I want to get 1, to share, just like our Battleship. However, im concerned that if I buy anything half-decent, I will get set upon by half the server complaining about compromising roleplay. I dont want to shatter roleplay, and I dont want to spoil the game for anyone, or fob anyone off with the pitiful and overused excuse that we "stole it", but its my feeling that a huntress in the fleet would do more harm than good, and aside from anything else, I would be irritated every time I saw it.

Does anyone have any suggestions reguarding a Cruiser currently available, that I can purchase for the family, that isnt completely useless (360 fire with atleast 60% of its turrets, etc), that wont obliterate RP, or have everyone breathing down our neck?

k..let me make this clear..Liberty Dreadnought and Osiris are both have 12 turrets...and let me talk about Osiris..my Osiris can take down a RH BS with cap armor MK VIII..so don't under-estamate Osiris's power..Liberty Dreadnought, a little bigger than Osiris.but still is a good ship....Huntress..the best ship for aganst Battleships or BattleCruiser..

don't say the ship sucks..if you feel the ship sucks..it means you sucks.....

still,,in my opinion..

The Osiris is a very good battleship. It is smaller and more agile than the other battleship-class ships and is actually capable of dodging attacks.

The Huntress, however, is awful. And doesn't really look the part.

The Osiris is perfectly fine how it is, you just have to learn to fly it correctly. As for the Lib dread, never flown one myself, so I can't give an opinion on that.

And I agree with Blunt, the Huntress just sucks...

Erm...I saw a "Rheinland Pirate Cruiser, for LBW, Bunschu and Unioners" on a ship list when I looked for it on this site.
...I guess Corsairs are Rheinland pirates, theyre allied with the Unioners and Farmers-Alliance.
However, I dont know if that's good enough for RP, and I also dont know if the cruiser is still available, or any good.
Does anyone else know about it?

Rheinland pirate cruiser is weaker version of Red Hessian cruiser...Red Hessian cruiser is very strong and well built ship. Rheinland pirate cruiser..sucks big time...it has less turrets, weaker hull and it still slow as original Hessian cruiser. Maybe it could be flown by Corsairs ( i dont know their ties with LWB, unioners etc) but Corsair GB can eat it for lunch...

my recommendation...don't use it...

Hmm...the Hessians are scum..our sworn enemies, so we couldnt really get away with using one..unless someone says otherwise.
Are there any other alternatives?

{Btw. I wasnt implying that the Osiris was a bad ship, only that it's not superior to its would-be predecessor, the Lib Dread, and also doesnt really fit well with Corsair RP. Just today, I used it with a group of friends to kill an invading Rheinland Battleship, dodging fire.}

Most of the stuff u will ever need to do...corsair GB can handle it...trust me....2 or 3 of those with average pilots will wreck any battleship. And u will have small and fast hunting pack that cant fend off any battleship (or survive long enough to run from it) and pirate at the same time...strength in numbers...make that your angle...

The corsairs did have a nice battleship, their dreadnought was simply designed for a fat-out battle against those Outcast monstrocities. Unfortunately... A faulty hitbox caused its departure to the admin base... The hitbox problem as yet remains unsolved... (the ship looks like the Venator class star destroyer. Well-made model, but also a most recognizable SW ship in the mod)

The Osiris isn't bad though... Indeed, RP wise it should be better than he standard Liberty dreadnought in every aspect. However, its manouverability and small size make it a difficult target.

As for the huntress, I'll be as frank as I can be

IT SUCKS

Honestly, my bud being about equal a pilot to me had a Huntress... Would beat him every time with my Talarca. Sometimes 3 times in a row without repair. The huntress has a very dangerus deadzone behind-below it. if fighters can get into it, th cruiser is doomed. Also the model used... There's so much talk about adding only freelancer-like ships... [/sarcasm]

The corsair side of Sirius has been somwhat neglected recently. Their artifacts reach lower prices than Outcast Cardamine. The Outcst battleship is second only to the Rheinland one for armor and weaponry. A comparison between the Outcast and Corsair cruisers leaves no doubt...

By the way... commodities... How come luxuruious artifacts and addictive drugs cost less than bacteria?!

I agree. Are there any ship makers out there that would be willing to take on the challenge of making a proper Corsair cruiser for us?
IDK how much this normally costs...

I played around drawing some variations on the Liberty one, but then, looking for inspiration, googled "freelancer concept art" and somehow instantly found this. The rear end looks similar to a titan, and it's slim enough to be practical, as long as it isnt made to be too big (like imo the Huntress is).
