LOL!! I was messing with something just like this! LOL!
Ya beat me, good job!
Perhaps the torp wings curving down have em end a little above the cockpit? Other than the end placement of the torp tubes, I love the curves. Good job. Maybe more people will fly for Bretonia now...
Ok my last post may have come out a tad harsh. I admire your spirit and willingness to contribute to this mod and this community but in a handful of days you have come up with 6 different designs. Slow down, let your ideas percolate. I may not be a modder but I am an enthusiast for spaceship design. You should see the pictures on my bloody hard drive. I believe I speak for many when I say quality over quantity. I like that your are tackling the tough job of corsair design with that cruiser. I think you have a real winner with the kusari transport/BD cruiser. We have been wanting all the houses to have bombers for a long time, but think it would be terrible if all our our ships became "kitbashes".
Go ahead and do a Bretonian bomber, but think about what makes bretonian vessels unique. Arguably they are the most so in the entire game. Myself, I think the look like fish. The best way to emulate is to look for shapes in the vanilla and use them as templates. I also recommend goggling pictures of aquatic life. Look outside the game for inspiration. Vanilla ships are all based on the founding countries philosophy of design.
Germany is industrious and efficient, thus you find no unnecessary cures. Anything that is was done so on purpose. Likely to deflect damage from missiles, much like the slants on the old tiger tanks.
Japan and its people are inherently elegant. Thus Kusari ships are curvy and decorative. In feudal times the Japanese were warriors of strike speed and elegance. As such Kusari ships are smaller, faster, and more maneuverable than normal.
so on and so forth.....
Just try some other ideas please Angel. We all want this mod to be all that it can be. I am sorry to critique so harshly...
I agree with Nexus, I do see too much of the templar as well. However, that does make sense from a military ship construction point of view, similar main body but slightly altered for different roles.
The bomber wings look good, particular when looking down on the ship. Maybe have them flow more into the tail and less angled down (say having the tubes about the midline of the ships height rather than at 1/4, at the moment it looks weighed down as if the tubes were too heavy for it).
I'm particularly interested in the design of this ship since the SF will be one of the main groups using it;), so please keep me appraised of your progress, looks like a good start.
Hmm...i was asked by Kiggles few weeks ago to make new Bretonian Bomber based on original FL design. Model is pretty much done and i could post some pictures when i get home. It is based on Templar but looks quite different, and it is slightly bigger. Engines and hardpoint places are moved, those two engine holders from original templar removed, has bigger wings and changed cockpit.
