i asked if i could use a researcher ID together with a BHG IFF. because BHG is red with researcher
this was fine, i were told . Since researcher is just an non-factionalised ID. But i couldn't use BHG ships/guns
which is understandable.
Then, here the other day i thought id make an outcast researcher. just for fun. Now, when reading the ID, it says "cannot land on any unlawful bases except Junkers and Order"
now, this confused me. Surely, there should be nothing in the way for ANY unlawful group to have a researcher or many. And to me, this was kinda strange. So i just want a clarification as in, if i use Outcast IFF and Researcher ID, i can dock on Outcast bases.
IMO
Researcher ID = AI ID (as in, non-factionalised/alligned).... It's an addition to the IFF. Meaning the IFF tells the affiliation, and thus the base restrictions and the researcher ID holds the special restrictions.
Now, as i stated. ANY faction is likely to have atleast ONE researcher. Outcasts is a nation, they would be able to support MANY. yet, rules say NO U, for no apparent reason. Hell, researchers is RESTRICTED to dealing with only cardamine and some other substances known as contraband. Yet, they cant just go to the source of the cardamine, they gotta go to manhatten, or a junker base.
Actually, he's right.
The Lane Hackers, Gaians, Bundschuh and Blood Dragons should have researchers. All of those exept the Blood Dragons have backgrounds coming from institutes or universities. Blood Dragons have military-type research complex (Sendai, I believe)
Outcasts have Research station in O-81 as well.
The Council is kinda House, so I believe they can have researcher.
RP as scientist = OMG OC, KEEL IIIT.
Using researcher ID = LOL OC Researcher.... ololol... hai, u can not haz that much cardamine or w/e... drop or dai
there is an distinct difference... and WHO THE HELL SAID "UNLAWFULS" cant be pacifists? bascially, WHO SAID "LAWFULS" cant be triggerhappy warmongers? Now, albert einstein was the man who made the basic plans for a nuclear bomb. HE BASICALLY INVENTED THE MOST TERRIBBLE WEAPON WE HAVE. We still dont think he is an terrorist or supervillan.
Lawful and Unlawful is just a WORD put upon other by the ones who have enough power to claim that their definitions is the right ones.
Back to topic, id like admin clarification, ofcourse.
But as i see it, it doesnt matter if your lawful or not, a scientist is not a warrior, he/she is a highly educated person with a task to solve things in a scientifically and unpartial way. So the entire "badguys cant have smarties" argument is DEAD.
Also consider that Cardamine increases ones intelligence immensly. Thus, it's even more out of logic NOT to think that outcasts can have scientists, or corsairs for that matter.
last note:
Corsairs and Outcasts are lawful in their own way.
First of, I agree with Prysin, unlawfuls should have researchers. Secondly, and this might have been fixed, I am pretty sure that the Researcher ID is sold on a Blood Dragon Base. If you cant land on unlawful bases, how can you sell it on a unlawful base?

Actually, the Bundschuh may have the qualifications, but lack the funds and need to set up any research operations, in light of the fact that they're even having problems with constructing their own ships.
Take a note of Luneburg. The poorest looking guard system ever.
The researcher ID is really made for the lawful researcher who is out abroad, collecting samples or whatnot. You can still roleplay an unlawful researcher, just use the right ID. Lawful researchers are a lot more independent than "unlawful" researchers would be, given that the only reason they'd be unlawful is if they were affiliated with a faction - in which case the actual unlawful ID would be a better fit.
