Ok, i guess I'll RP a character, Mr. Monk from the USA show. Need some help here though. I figure Natalie would be flying the ship and he would spend most of his time in the California system. Although solving murders may not be easy to RP since deaths are pretty well documented. Perhaps I can find some way to transfer the episodes to disco in some fashion. Also, a ship, I can't for the life of me decide on a ship. Lawful for one and symmetrical for another. I wish we had a flying bubble. Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
(this all started as making a server character as myself but i think this could be way more fun)
If murders are too well documented, how about RP'ing them? I mean, Mr. Monk could solve murders on every planet of Liberty. That would reduce the time in space to flying from one murder to another though...
I've seen many episodes of "Monk" -- most or all of the first season; some from the second season. However, I haven't watched the more recent episodes. Regarding the choice of a ship, I think you're right that he would want something lawful and symmetrical. I also think he would want something safe, ideally sold in California, so the Armored Transport (sold on California Minor) seems to fit the bill. However, I believe that Mr. Monk loves even numbers and the Armored Transport has an odd number (7) of turrets. If Mr. Monk did buy an Armored Transport, I'm sure all seven turrets would be level 4 class 7 transport turrets, which can conveniently be purchased on California Minor.
If Mr. Monk does any trading, make sure to only buy even amounts of cargo. If Mr. Monk tractors in any criminal pilots, he would freak if there were an odd number of them. That would force him between a choice of jettisoning one to make the number even (immoral since killing a helpless criminal is still murder) or risking further danger by seeking out another criminal from the same faction to make the numbers even. I think being in space would be enough to make Mr. Monk catatonic!
If you're looking for something to investigate, check the docking tractor beam operator on Detroit Munitions for cardamine abuse, as he has tried to kill me more than once (on standard servers, not Discovery) by slamming my Starflier into the station repeatedly until I lost my shields and started taking hull damage! That drug-crazed maniac will kill somebody eventually, if he hasn't already done so.
Considering the number of Liberty Rogues that Mr. Monk must be responsible for sending to prison, I imagine that any Rogue-aligned player faction (e.g. Nayehiya) would want to put out a contract on Mr. Monk!:rtfm:
Regarding Mr. Monk's love of even numbers, I think he would love to have a Pirate Mule (4 guns & 4 turrets), even though it is an unlawful ship. Maybe he could get a good price on one at the LPI Impound Lot. Unfortunately, the Pirate Mule is a weak ship, so Mr. Monk might not last long with those hordes of Rogues after him!:(
If Mr. Monk gets an Armored Transport, then it should always have a VIP on board (representing Mr. Monk, since Natalie would be the actual pilot). Note that NPC LPI Armored Transports usually have one VIP on board.
I think the armored Trans. would fit it best. It is symmetrical looks clean and sober. He just would mount six turrets only. It should be a custom model with extra armour or mounted giant bumpers.
And who will play this unmatchable police team. The Lieutenant and his assistant. Without them Mr. Monk would not be complete.
If Mr. Monk gets near any battles, I'm sure that he'll be obsessed with picking up any debris (i.e. loot to the rest of us), not because of potential profit, but to keep the space lanes clean.
Mr. Monk should probably stay in California, as much as possible. In particular, Mr. Monk should avoid visiting New York, as he would attempt to clean up every debris field there and one of the following would result:
1. Mr. Monk's inability to clean up every debris field would turn him catatonic, again!
2. Natalie would have to take control back from Mr. Monk by using a stun gun!:nono:
Hey great suggestions guys...I set up the armored trans...I went ahead and put 7 turrets on it because it loses symmetry with only six (the top turret is centered). I'm working on creating a back story for why the heck they are in disco and I think it is going to be fun. Again, thanks for all your great input.
