I don't know much about ship modeling or anything, but I thought it would be cool to try and learn.

So my question is, do you know if models from Google SketchUp work? I don't know how to do all this stuff here:

Quote:1) Ship submission should consist at least of a CMP file with a properly centered model, with or without textures, and MAT file containing the texture. It's recommdended to include necessary hardpoints into the CMP. Also, the model creator might provide code for shiparch.ini, goods.ini, and infocard name & description* for the ship. It's also possible to include SUR file into the submission (the hitbox).

I have no idea how to make hard points or anything like that, so any tips would be appreciated. Here is a pic of a ship I have been building just to learn how to use the program. I don't know what it would be, maybe a transport something, but here's the picture, maybe it'll help you determine wether this is compatible or not.

Now I know this isn't the best ship.. it has many kinks to be worked out of it, but I'm just doing this to learn and for an example.

Any help would be awesome! Thanks.

I'm curious too since sketchup is one of my hobbies, and the only CAD program that I can wrap my brain around right now.

I mostly lurk around Media Center these days.

The only thing I can add is that Milkshape 3D is the only program I know of to make CMPs and MATs. So it needs to import into that program.
