.
.
To start...

.
.
.
The feature can be accessed via stations that contain the word "Shipyard" in their name, as well as New Haven in Connecticut. Dock with any of these stations and go to the Ship Dealer, you will see green text stating "Pimp-my-ship facilities are available here."

.
.
Code:
/showsetup

.
.
Shows your ship's light setup in a numbered list. You can change any of the lights on this list.

.
.
Code:
/showitems

.
.
Prints the below list in the chat.
Be warned the list is long and the chat history does not go back far enough to show the entire list.

Please note that lights with "Large" in the name are unavailable for fighters, bombers, and freighters.

[+]Old Guide For Future Reference
Pimpship Guide

This guide was created and completed by @Dino. Credits to @Mr.Fabulous for numerous edits and spelling/grammar check and to @Regulus and @Machelvanius for creating color table (in spoiler).

Pimpship is a feature which allows you to change color of ship's lights. The feature can be accessed via stations that contain the word "Shipyard" in their name, as well as New Haven in Connecticut. In order to start, dock with the station, go to the Ship Dealer's menu and type:

/pimpship

The command will start the process and display commands that have been made available. The next command that needs to be used is:

/showsetup

The command will display a list of light hardpoints available on your ship, as well as the color of lights currently used, which interestingly include the docking lights if present. The command to change them is fairly simple, but the process to obtain certain parts of the command are a bit tricky. To change certain hardpoints, the following command needs to be used:

/setitem <hardpoint number> <color code>

Where:
<hardpoint number> = the specific point on the ship that holds the light
<color code> = the light code you desire

For example:
/setitem 01 01
for Normal White on hardpoint 01

The command is written with the respective numbers instead of the hardpoint number and the color code. Hardpoint numbers can be seen in /showsetup list in front of each light, starting from 01 and the color codes can be displayed using following command:

/showitems

The command displays list of all available colors in chat, but due to limited amount of text lines in the chat and high number of colors & types of light available, the chat is unable to show all of the colors/types that exist. It's better to use an alternative to it, which is a table listed in the spoiler below.

Once you're confident you've got them jotted down, complete it by typing:

/buynow

The command will finalize hardpoint editing, and after 3-10 seconds will kick you out of the game. Upon re-entering and undocking, your ship should be outfitted with the new set of lights. The command execution costs 1 Million credits, so be careful about your decision. If you decide it's not worth it, then just don't type the /buynow command and leave. If there's not enough credits on the ship, the game will kick you, but your lights will remain the same.

How to identify light hardpoints

There are two ways of seeing which hardpoint appears on which place on the ship. The original way is more tedious and has higher chances of failure, while the second way uses a third-party software called HardCMP. Unless you want to have one color and size (or completely random), the distinction is extremely important.

First method is a simpler one. Assign each of the light hardpoint to different type and color of the light. Purchase the change and undock. Now that you're undocked and able to see the difference and which color/type has appeared on which slot, write down required changes and dock again. If you have assigned a large pink strobe to a hardpoint where you want to have small blue light, consult the 'Color codes' list again, see which slot is pink using /showsetup, and switch it for a blue one.

Second way is by using the third-party software called HardCMP (click the link to download). It's a bit more complex, but it saves you 1 Million for initial purchase.

In order to use this way, you first need to open Discovery installation (right click Discovery Launcher > "Open file location" ). Then proceed with "DATA" > "SHIPS" and search for ship nickname (listed below). Once it's found, remember in which folder it was and open HardCMP.

In HardCMP, click on "File" > "Open..." and navigate to a folder which contains ship you've been looking for. Open it and its model will appear. If you see it as wireframe, click on "Solid Wireframe" in the bottom right corner.

The ship I used to generate the list of light hardpoints is Lich, and after I have navigated to "DATA > SHIPS > DISCOVERY > frozen>ROS_VHF.cmp" , I am able to see Lich's model and list of all of its hardpoints in the drop-down list on the right. Click on it and find the hardpoint you are looking for (with same name in-game). Choose it, and it will appear on the model and show exact location of it.

Just a quick question, not totally based on this topic, but about lights. Which lights can be switched off ? Docking lights only , or some running lights can be switched off with a "Lights On/Off" key ?

Behemoth Light Hardpoints

Sorry for the awkward shots, hopefully the list helps. Port = left side, starboard = right side. Referenced from looking towards the front of the ship if you're inside it.

I found the lighthardpoint pictures I made again; wonder why I had not found them before, they were not that well hidden...

They are quite outdated, having many now non-existent ship models among them, but I'll still post the albums here, in case any of them are somehow useful - and also for nostalgia's sake:
Fighters: http://imgur.com/a/0YEVR
Bombers: http://imgur.com/a/lHIVb
Freighters: http://imgur.com/a/oR8UK
Transports: http://imgur.com/a/o6Gxh
Gunboats: http://imgur.com/a/gqJAn
Capitals: http://imgur.com/a/z7Lfb

Unless Imgur goes down, I will try to not(/never) remove them.
And don't complain about the old ships also being in there. I just happened to have found them now and don't have the time to sort through them as I was doing something else. D:

EDIT:
Also...the tutorial picture:

Back then the forum didn't allow for such nice text formating, so I had made it into a crappy picture.
