Hey all you model makers, I thought I'd post some ship designs I put together a while back in GalCiv 2 for my own amusement. Just food for thought for anyone making ships looking for ideas to build from. These ships were inspired by EVE Online so might look familiar in some ways to some people:

[attachmentid=3386] [attachmentid=3387]

[attachmentid=3389] [attachmentid=3390]

I'm quite fond of the one on top row right. Bottom row right is too tall I suppose, ah well.

I just want to mention...they are horribly unfreelancerish.

Despite the fact that they are horribly un-freelancerish, the two on the right look really good.

I think the top right could pass for freelancer, I suppose the others aren't. Again, just some fodder for ideas.

If i got it right.

There is an Development kit for Eve online, which is giving you the tools to edit the game and the models.
You have taken existing modelparts and put them together.

or...

Made the complete models by yourself including skinning them.

If you was going the second way, your abilities in skinning are well needed.

No no I don't have the tools or time for all that:D

These were built within the game Galactic Civilizations II from my memory of EVE Online ships. GalCiv has a whole slew of ship parts you can slap together to get the look you want, or close to what you want anyway.

O.K.

I have great idea. Play with the GalCiv ship editor again to create models with a bit more FL style. Post them and i'm sure one modeler or another will realize these models for FL.

Also the models you edit must be saved somwhere. Maybe it is possible to import the model files in a 3d Programm without a special importer

Oh, and don't worry about the opinions of some hardliners. They have strange way of taste almost.:P
