Ive had an idea for Rail weapons for a long time, basicly a long range slow fire medium high velocity weapon with reduced damage output

A Level 9 or so Railgun could look like this as far as statistics...
I tried to make it somthing that would fit in niclely, unlike the chainguns that are kinda...ew

Velocity:------------------850m/s
Range:-------------------1500m
Refire Rate:--------------1.00

Shield bonus type:----Photon

in the evolution mod the equivelant to the battle razor in that was more a less a beam cannon or rail gun, call the starbeam or somthing like that. tore apart half of your energy but was more a less a sniper weapon in ways. could fire 500meters further than most weapons and done alot of hull but no shield. kind of like a lucky shot tYpe number did fit really well in that mod don't quite think it would work to a great degree here though

just my opinion really

I like these guns....umm..house variants?
Liberty - Balanced across the board.---white
Bretonia - Longer range - less damage.---dunno....
Kusari - Higher speed - shorter range.---gold
Rheinland - Lower ROF - higher damage.---green

and....long ranged weapons that don't do sheild damage don't make sense.
at all.
no sense....think about it...

true no shiled damage weapons are pretty useless in a one on one fight where there is no such thing as long ranged attack.... but then again there is no such thing as long ranged attack in them types of situations that's what makes them not really that bad. they where used more for sniping from a distance in big battles or as support to keep the pests at bay. and i also said it would not work very well here anyway to be honest beam cannons and rail guns just aren't FL in my opinion

I think railguns would make excellent capship primary weapons.

Hull damage: 4000 (or more)
Shield Damage 2000
Refire: 1.0
Energy consumption: 2000
Range: 7k (it's after all matter, propelled in zero gravity)
Speed - 1400 (or like all cap guns)

Really, I'm sick and tired of battleships slugging eachother at point-blank range. If those railguns appeared as extreme-range heaviest capshp weapons, the clashes of the titans might take longer than 45 seconds.
