As of right now, the PanGalactic Travel Company is hereby disbanded. We're dead already, really, and no amount of shared liners or mercenary wings or RP events will change that.
Why are we dead? Well, let's look at the facts. PanGal always has been a RP faction. No pew pew pew, no vast profits, just the joy of prattling on about the wonders of Stuttgart or the mysteries of Sigma-17, and you know what? Nobody cares. It's all blue messages, or hunting blue messages, or sitting around in some stupid asteroid field for hours upon hours not saying anything, just shooting at rocks amassing money to buy huge ships bristling with guns to GET blue messages. Mercs are everywhere. Miners are everywhere. Roleplay is not. Nobody wants to hear about the striking beauty of Omega-3 or anything except "Player X has been killed by Player Y (Gun/Missile)".
But you know, we tried. We opened up a supply division for those people who didn't want to trade passengers. We got maybe two or three takers, one of whom just vanished into thin air. We established an exploration division for people who fancied flying around under PanGal colours to far-off systems. No interest. We even MADE OUR OWN MERCENARY WING for people who wanted PvP. Nobody joined at all.
So, PanGal is done. Finis. Kaput. Good luck to whoever wants to try for the next OSC official faction, because you'll damn well need it. I'm disbanding it now to avoid the humiliation of having the Admins revoke our status. Cutting off my nose to spite my face, really, but... I just couldn't handle that. We're going the way of our namesake - though Pan Am was around for more than a year.
To all the loyal pilots who stuck with PanGal through thick and thin: thank you. Really. There couldn't have been a faction at all without you.
To Ben: we'll never stop appreciating that 500 mill loan that gave us official status.
And to all the smart-alecs who will undoubtedly be leaving pictures of lolcats or giant "Q.Q"s or whatever other stupid thing in this thread: get stuffed.
Well, best post this before I lose my nerve. Feels like I'm killing my own child, but I just can't stand to see it suffer any more.

Pieguy had heart to disband the faction he put soo much effort to, and you say "DONT WORRY NEW FACTION COMMING!"? How can you be like that?

[20:44] Avalanche (Greg/Pharos): Yeah, I ****ing know serbian.
[20:45] Domjan1911: YUGOSLAVIAN YUGOSLAVIAN!
not my place to comment on that too much - cause i never led a freelancer faction...
since you critizise the current state of the roleplay on disco in general ( or to some extend ) though - i think i d like to add a little comment anyway.
roleplay is a give and take - in order to take, you have to give - and what you give must be something that the one(s) you roleplay with want to have. anything else is a monologue.
so - the best roleplay is meaningless and a solo-show when there is no harmony between the enviroment and the actor.
your roleplay may be great, but it appears that the enviroment didn t agree with it - and decided to ignore it, which turned it into a show no one wanted to see.
maybe it is beneficial to adjust the roleplay to something that "speaks to the players" surrounding you, try to catch them on topics they can comment to.
the following is not related to you - but from experience...
sometimes, i have experienced players roleplaying their show. - they roleplayed fine - but the whole roleplay was more like storytelling - leaving hardly any room for proper reactions, cause what you must know is that the other one doesn t know what he is supposed to do - and in order not to mess it up - he remains silent and passiv.
its quite some work to develope a roleplay thats opened up for various reactions and its quite a challenge to react properly to whatever reaction you get without dropping out of role. - for that - "small" roles are often easier yet much better.
however the hardest roles are those of the "everyday" person. - everyone can roleplay a halfgod mass-murderer, but only few people can convincingly roleplay a john doe on patrol without being themselves.
Pieguy, I am truly sorry about the disbanding of PanGal. I understand how it feels to have to do this to a faction. A situation like this was presented to me yesterday through my grand-parents dog, but I won't go into that. But I understand.
But I believe that it is appropriate to point out that this will not be the last faction to lose its official status, whether through voluntary disbanding or forced deletion by the Admins.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
