I made this topic because i'm getting a bit tired of all those pirates who just say " Halt, pay or die ". Way too many are doing this. I often mine gold ore, and alot pirates just say : " Drop your gold ore " they pick it up, and they're off! RP? Not really... And if you tell them that they aren't RP'ing, they just destroy you! So i'm asking, will there ever be a " max demand "? And maybe it would be better if the sanctions on that non-RP pirating get higher.
P.S: I don't have any problems with pirating, that gives trading/mining a bit action and it also gives me work on my merc:D.
Srsly though, make a pirate character and go pirate for 100.000 credits. And make a statistic about how many traders:
a) rp
b) start talking after their shields are down
c) thrust quietly while being CD'd
d) f1 in a miserable attempt to save their cargo
e) draw for the 'soru no inglis' line (or any other variation)
That's the popular option when I pirate. That's why I make my demand then open fire until they either pay, stop and talk or explode. Or shoot back, in which case they explode.
Now I understand how many pirates simply make their demand and then destroy you if you even try and RP. But I support Vlko entirely when he suggests you try pirating and see how many traders or miners RP with you.
So, do it, I dare you.
[17:45:39] Wolfs Ghost (Murphy): Tom, you have problems. Go kill yourself.
[19:25:12] Johnny (Jam): Tomtom, I will beat you with a spoon.
[14:22:56] Prarabdh Thakur: KILL HIM WITH A SHEEP.
[17:40:48] Eagle (Junes): Tom should be slapped with a spoon.
[11:32:18] Warspite: Thank you for being so awesome Tom. <3
[18:17:36] Metano: I love you tomtom
[20:06:24] Warspite: I will seriously give you epic head.

SilentHunter, you're just unlucky, there are some RPing pirates out there
but also, just don't blame they guy, the pirate doesn't have to start the RP, you try first, and see if he goes along with it, yes..you'll probably pay..but still, it's worth a shot.
And vlko is right.
Also...I normally would've posted something longer..as to reasons and more solutions, however this type of thread has been coming up a lot lately, therefore...I'm bored of it.
Well saying "//your RP sucks" to someone who doesn't understand RP... I can see why that doesn't work.
I had that happen to me the other day:
lulwut pirate: "stop"
lulwut pirate: "2mil"
me: "Sorry mate, hull's empty, best I can do is 100k." or something along that line -- mind you i'm in a crappy freighter not even worth 2mil new.
pirate blasts away.
Good times!
Just part of life, some people suck.
I also had a very good experience with a pirate who asked for a joke instead of money. I told him a doozy and -he paid me-, good on him!
Now is that really 'realistic RP'? Maybe not, but originality counts and creating an environment where we can all have fun is more important to me.

Ooo was that the one in Dublin with the Thug and Lea Lopez? Because I was there on my BAF character, and was trying to help you.

There are quite a few pirates out there who prefer to see your cash rather than hear your words. If they're straight to the point, try to talk to them a bit. If they're more interested in money, iether give it to them, or bug out. Better to get it over with than try to talk someone down who simply wont let up.
I get it a fair bit, even when I'm in a fighter. Had a bomber try to take money from me in a starflier once, that was pretty fun.
I know, there are also good pirates for example those [*] guys, who ask 30k for their concert, they're fun. I also met a guy who used dice for pirating. But there are still too many " lolwut " pirates.
And @ Vlko So because some traders/miners are being idiots pirates get more rights and are above the rules?
Some rules:
5.2 All attacks must be the result of some form of role play. "Engaging" is not sufficient.
6.6 Aggressors are not allowed to destroy a trade vessel prior to issuing a demand and allowing sufficient time to respond.
Many pirates forget that one and they barely give you some time.

Some rules:
no. its not what im saying.
im saying that there are 2 sides to each coin, and there are pirates to blame, yes. the thing is there are also traders / miners who just grind quietly until they have their caps. no it's not an excuse for the pirates to go '2milrdai', but a simple fact.
to put it short: both are an issue, but theres not much one can do about it but to cope with them.
