Simplyput, set it so that they may hold more than 70 units of ammo, and thus serve as a restocking facility.

Novas, mines, missles, any ammo a snubcraft would use. Allow them to store differnt ammounts of it based on their size and intention.

Ships like the vanilla house battleships and even Juggs, they double as light carriers, allow them to store enough for a few full resupplies (12ish maybe)

Actual carriers, Aquillion, Zephyr, Lib Carrier, Geb, allow them to store a lot more, with a ratio of size to comabt ability affecting what can be carried.

like this idea alot, gives bigger ships more purpose, since their point is to launch and restock fighter and bomber craft in or out of combat.

Furthermore, if Nova's are made potent in .86 (IE: actualy damage a battleship aside from lucky shots) this could be the method by which bombers with unreachable range are made reliant on support, they have to have a carrier to supply them

That's carriers. Battleships are made to be big monstrous hunks of metal able to do extreme amounts of damage to whoever attacks them.

Sounds like and interesting idea, though I haven't fully given enough thought on this I think it can work out so it has my support. I'm sure though they'll need to be some balances etc. But the concept of giving caps a bigger responsibility thus, giving them the idea that they need to stay alive for more than a minute makes me happy.

Like the idea, but the ammo limit is a constant. all ships have a limit of 70, to raise it for 1 means raising it for all. so unless the dev team goes for a higher limit with ammo taking up cargo space (been discussed, probably not going to happen) it will just remain a good idea.

The thing is in Freelacner even battleships are also carriers, just to a lesser degree.

Look at a Lib Dread, Bret Dunkirk, Kusari BS, RMBS, even the GRN/Council battleships, and on all of them there are hangerbay doors. Rather large ones, at that, indicating that they to a small extent can support snubcraft.

Admitedly it's more of a defenseve role that they server, but their having a limited capacity would fit in.

As for the tech limitations, I bet the devs are ingenious enough to come up with a way.

If nothing else, add a 'resupply' turret that casues ammo needed by the targeted vessel to be spawned.

Hmm.

Actually an interesting idea, considering they won't use it.

However, as with trading bots/bats ingame, it is quite hard to do so while being fired upon...

The ammunition limit is universal. All ships carry the same amount of ammunition, it is not definable by class. Further more, there are only 4 official classes of ship the game recognises, LF, HF, VHF and Freighter. All capital ships are considered freighters by the game, so you could not single out and define Carriers as the only ship able to carry ammunition.

Like Ashes pointed out. We have to work with what we have sadly, and that's 4 ship types.
