I didn't want to hijack Virus' thread about shieldbusters, but I was thinking about this point all the way through the thread.

Why weren't the Codenames taken out of the game? As I remember from reading the Freelancer guide somewhere, Codenames were included as Easter Eggs and little more. I don't have a problem with them as weapons, in fact I think they're beautiful, graceful and powerful, but to me, they have little RP value. Everyone can use them if they can find them, and they break the game somewhat for people who don't have the money to purchase them.

I remember flying through some system and scanning a random merc, finding Adv. Delibs and Codenames. I'm not sticking my finger at anyone, all I'm saying is that people can get much better weapons on the Civilian market and "wreaks" than they can from the established House militias. Especially since there are weapons like the Vulture 4 and the Gaia's Angel that people simply don't use because they can get Salamancas.

Perhaps severely nerf or remove the Codenames entirely and increase the power of the standard weapons in the House systems, and making the pirate factions from those houses reflect those differences in House technology.

(For example making all Kusari weapons fast, but having variations on that theme, sacrificing efficiency for power. Gives them a more "tricked out" feeling.)

"The thirteen saloons that had lined the one street of Seney had not left a trace. The foundations of the Mansion House hotel stuck up above the ground. The stone was chipped and split by the fire. It was all that was left of the town of Seney. Even the surface had been burned off the ground.
Nick looked at the burned-over stretch of hillside, where he had expected to find the scattered houses of the town and then walked down the railroad track to the bridge over the river. The river was there."

While its true, codenames are not used in a very RP fashion, they have the potential to. There are certain codenames that are Bounty Hunter ones, some that are RM ones from the GMG war, some from KNF ships, and a few that are from shipping corporations and pirates. The JADEs and IRON HAMMERs are both RM codenames, and would be good to be seen on RM ships.

Its simply the way they are used. They could be RP, they could be out of RP. Its the owner's decision really. Codenames are considered free-for-all as none of them have infocards that say they belong to specific factions. If Igiss allowed it, I could edit their info, or he could do it himself, but it would probably just cause people to be sanctioned for having 'out of RP Codenames' when most of the time, codes are picked based on looks and damage.

They were originally only available in Sigma-13, and from news and rumors, it'll tell you that the RM lost several prototype weaponry when the GMG ambushed their fleet in the gas clouds. These Codes were the Iron Hammers, Jades, and ONYXs. Jades can still be found on two wrecks in Sigma-13. Found on only 1 in Tau-31, and this was a wreck added in the mod after the Kusari-Bretonian war broke out.

The Wild Fires were originally BHG guns, found on the BHG ship Pathfinder. They have since been moved to another wreck that is a Red Hessien one.. But it was originally a BHG prototype weapon. It would be available to all BHG pilots, and Red Hessiens as well.

Blue Blazes, though I'm unsure of their original wreck, are now on a BHG wreck as well, making them in-RP for BHG fighters.

Many other codenames are found on BHG wrecks. And some on other wrecks.

In my opinion,we need the codies to sync with the house they go wuth, for exaple, outcast ones speed changed to 700, the RM ones to 500 ??, the BHG ones to 750 (though only a few of them caused theres so many).

No, don't try changing the Codename speeds, what would that do? ... The codenames are fine just how they are, they don't need changing. If you want a RP aspect of it all, they could be moved to places where they would fit in RP like Dab said. No stats need to be changed in my opinion.

Maybe for the new added level 9 guns, or for level 10s if they are ever made in the future, we could use names that go back to their prototype roots. Such as a gun called the Black Blade, or Silver Blade that says in the infocard it is based off the Golden Blade prototype. Give it the same weapon effect (what you see when you shoot) and refire rate as the old gun, but maybe with different speeds to fit with the faction's weaponry and damage that is balanced.

Just an idea to increase codename roleplay.
