Righteo...I've noticed a trend lately in the world of trading:
It is now impossible to get away from any kind of pirate.
That's right, impossible. If you manage to get away from the pirates, they've either lagged out or you've gotten yourself an Admin Pass or summat, because I can't, and I'm a damn good Train pilot, pardon my lack of humility. The Train Disruptor makes it impossible for a freighter to escape from anything; it can be a Bloodhound, it'll still keep you out of cruise 'long as it's got a Train Disruptor. And forget living through a gunboat; it's horrid. They can drop my shields faster than Cruise can even charge, with this big Cerberus-whore thing going on! ENOUGH. The pirates need to lose some of the firepower. And before anybody tells me 'lol ur just a por looser' they should damn well know that a pirate that managed to catch me and make me pay (IE not in a g*****m gunboat!) earned his money before the bloody new version.

Yes, GB need to be used to pirate much less, though fighters are just fine. However, the transports need an armor decrease. I've found they are actually quite strong with Mk VIII armor to a fighter. Very difficult to take down, and some trans can shoot back. GBs need taken down a notch in killing transports (Not sure how to do this..) but trans also need a slight (5-10% max) armor decrease.
Gunboats and bombers make the most sense for solo pirates. Fighters have a hard time taking down transports unless they have a good pilot or there are more than one of them. Fighters can actually be killed by a transport.
It is pretty much impossible to escape anymore, even from groups of NPCs. CDs need slowed down some, though not as slow as they used to be.
O come on epy ... dodge more. I have an ADV TRAIN and can out manuver the insignificant wave of pirates I encounter.
Been here since Discovery 4.77 (lurk mode engaged)
Zapp Wrote:I have recently met and discussed with Atalawohisdi the trader that flies the Caribe. Just so everyone knows, I engaged in Sigma 13. He flies through half the system before going back to New Berlin, where he cruises from one side of the system to the other, hugging the sun as close as he can. All the while, he flies near Battleships trying to scrape me off. I finally send out the white flag, and move back to Sigma 13. However, it was a ruse, and he bit. Knowing his trade route, I interdicted the trade lane and the chase began anew. It ended, an hour after it began, with me retreating, out of Countermeasures and getting very irritated.
He kept boasting how he has never been caught; I'd like to see him beat until he begs to pay, then beaten some more.
If a big Luxury Cruise is floating through the water, and here come some Pirates on Speed boats, who is going to escape? Not the cruise ship. In my opinion, this is how pirating SHOULD BE!!!!!! NOw, traders can't just fly around making all sorts of cash, they have to look out for their assest. If they see a threat on the rout ahead, guess its time to change course.
I disagree with needing to change this, whatever it is you needed to be changed. From what i see, its just a complaint
As well, come find my pirating bomber, it can catch you quite easil;y with that thing, and if you and run.....
Well I play a Corsair however I have never pirated or taxed anyone before..I think someone just out and offered me money once to dock on crete..heh..but i didn't ask.
The whole pirates pirating in a fighter has always seemed odd to me.
I get the whole a speed boat is going to catch a cruise liner thing...but what then. How would a single crazy pirate in a speed boat accomplish anything against a cruise liner. LOL Or a supertanker or super frieghter. The crew would just laugh and go back to playing video games or poker. Heh..all they'd need to do is point some fire-hoses at the speed boat.
I know there needs to be game balance. Its unlikely were going to get a dozen pirates all working together anytime soon. So the server rule makes sense. Just thought I'd add my funny fantasy.
Hmm, if a transport has no chance of escape, it wrecks the fun of the chase. Yeah, they need to not be immortal, but the ability to escape is necessary.
