Most likely some of you will go "duh" on this but...
There's two versions of MOX ingame which are identical, for game balance purposes. Would it be possible to rename one of these to "MOX Type 2" so it can be more easily determined which is which? Optionally the description can be slightly edited as well, perhaps signifying a slightly different production method, or slightly different application of the substance (one more military, the other more industrial in purpose?)

If you're interested in stopping unlawful trade, such as Rheinland MOX coming into Texas, then you're just going to have to use your wits to determine whether or not it is indeed from Rheinland. It should not be possible to look at a scan and just happen to know exactly where it came from. Any smuggler could easily switch the labels.
If you were to take a unit of it for analysis then you can look at the price list in order to determine for sure which it is. Any Liberty Navy or Police pilot should have Gettysburg on their list and that will show as having a value of 2045 if it is Liberty MOX. If the value is 250 then you know that it is Rheinland MOX.
If you're interested in selling it then you should know where it originated. If you don't know because you found it, then I suppose your crew don't have the expertise to establish it either so you'll have to lose it or run the risk of hauling it where it should not be.
It isn't so much to determine origin. It's for the sake of ease when viewing commodity listings on a station to see which type of MOX it is receiving or selling.
If the items are identical anyway, then it does not make sense to have different prices on the items, and one of them should simply be cut from the module entirely. But they -are- different, I read on the wiki, for balancing reasons, so it makes sense to commit a physical difference to the items as well.

Actually, now that I think about it...no smuggler is going to have the required expertise to alter the container for nuclear fuel. So in saying that the container would either be a Bretonian or Rheinlandic type, I thus concur.
So far as the actual product is concerned though, MOX is MOX. If there's any subtle different then one of them may as well be low-enriched uranium. As for their use, in Sirius that would be for Battleships primarily and secondary to that would be either stations that rely on nuclear power or a planet-side power plant. In any case, regardless of whether or not it's for military or industrial purposes, it'll still be used in a nuclear reactor so the application is actually the same in any situation.
Anyway, with this mining mod I'm sure we can revert to one commodity and that the price can be altered accordingly by the plug-in in the same manner as ore so that trade balance is maintained.
