Please read, before voting

It seems we have a new shipclass located between Gunboats and SHF's, The Gunship. Atm filled with BHG Gunship and Lane Hacker Gunship. Some may added in the future.

Imho the name Gunship is a contradiction to vessels smaller than a Gunboat. So i think this class should be renamed into Sloop. Look here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sloop-of-war

Gunships are smaller and more manoeuverable, than Gunboats, but able to bear the same equipment.
Their only disadvantage is the armour, but i think, they should have weaker shields too. Transport shields at the maximum.
Some gamers want they should have 4 GB turrets only. I'm fine with 6 turret slots.

Time to vote now.

If you vote for another classification please post.
If you have constructive comments please post.
If you want to flame others go elsewhere.

Respectfully

I like the idea. But what about power supply? Will it be able to throw the same kind of sustained firepower of a gunboat? To me it seems odd that a ship smaller than a GB would have the same power plant. I can't see it having the same number of gun slots and the same power supply.

Otherwise I'm game for it.

I dont have a problem with its name and leave the shield as it is now. But drop the turret number to 4.

Can only make 3 Questions in a poll, but i think to reduce the power supply to 250 - 300K is a kind of common sense, if Igiss will make the changes.

I like "Gunship" as this is actually a helicopter/aircraft classification rather than a naval ship, so it differentiates them well in my mind. But if the class must change it should, in my opinion, not be Sloop since Sloop/Covette/Frigate are all larger than gunboats/patrol boats/torpedo boats.

Perhaps Gunboats should be renamed Frigates and Gunships be Gunboats.

Regarding turrets & stats: I think 6 turrets is fine especially if a pair of the turrets are forward-firing like on the Hacker Gunship. Lower the power supply to 350k and leave the armor down where it is currently. Shouldn't be overpowered if it runs out of power quicker than the current gunboats.

Like the idea of naming the gunboats as frigates and the gunships as gunboats.

Ok i like idea of that gunships have 4 gunboat turrets, even gunboat shield does not bother me, i say ditch 2 Gb turrets, reduce power to about 300-350k
and i like it

In the game, there is NO difference between Gunboat and Gunship. The way it is now, the the best way we can have it without it being un-balanced.

I vote keep it the same.

"Cutter" is another possible class name. These are anywhere from 100-400 feet in length (for USCG ships anyway), smaller than a Frigate or Corvette.

((galaktik, that sig image is 1.5meg, please do something about it!))

I like the idea.

I would actually suggest banning gunboats from pirating, but allowing sloops to do so, but that's a whole new ballgame.
