Unless I get a large show of support, I 'm thinking I'll drop my proposal and probably join one of the factions:

Reasons for Dropping

1) Of the 8 factions only 4 responded, all liking the idea I might add (thank you Phantom, NSP, -=?=-, and TG).

2) If I drop the proposal, the factions themselves could make up similar rules anyways if they really wanted to

3) Keeping track of registration would be some work on my part (work I'm willing to do though)

Reasons for Keeping

1) Allows me to remain in a somewhat neutral position to the factions, unless theyre sided with the Nomads. In which casebring it on!!!

2) Gives a method of requesting cargo that doesnt need to rely on reputations or being a pirate.

3) Gives another means for making cash for some individuals including myself.

4) Allows me and others to become more involved with the server and its roleplaying.

5) Creates a cash pool account that can be used to help new players who have visited the forum to get a better start.

6) Also provides a vessel permanently based near Manhatten which can aid individuals wishing to transfer cash and equipment from one character to another (Free Service).

I've included an attachment with my updated proposal.

Vote and give me opinions.

Um.... Wow.... You went all out....

Eh..... Sure.... Why not? Nomads ARE dangerous. I'm in favor of this.

Umm, ehhh

*f2k scratches his head*

Why?

What is the purpose behind this? Did I miss an important message somewhere?

As it is now, I cant see why not. The fee is not that high, and if the money is used to help new players, then its fine by me

But what justifies the amount of bookkeeping that his will involve? Also, how should the money be paid? Should Igiss just transfer them or what? Due to the different timezones, it might be difficult to arrange a meeting with you.

Is this purely a roleplay thing? Are you trying to shut down a lucrative trade route? Do you think that theres too much Nomad harvesting going on?

It's not an event. It's rather... a kind of server roleplaying thingie. I've read the suggestion itself (RTF file that was included) and I should say that it's way too complicated, you should make a simple version for everyone to read and understand what you are talking about. And post it not as an attachment, but as simple forum message. I also think that 'complete' version of rules should be simplified as much as possible.

Idea is fine, again, if you could make others follow your rules and do your own part of the job well.

Hmm, guess the point would be a fundraiser (for me and others that get involved).

f2k,Dec 28 2005, 02:04 PM Wrote:But what justifies the amount of bookkeeping that this will involve?
Most of the bookkeeping would probably occur at the very start, once it got going it would get easier. Not to mention, the faction registration would take care of a lot of people. Justification, I get cash for bookkeeping work.

My impression was direct transfer.

f2k,Dec 28 2005, 02:04 PM Wrote:Should Igiss just transfer them or what?
Igiss has enough to take care of without my stuff, so I'm not expecting or asking for his assistance.

You have a very good point here. The best solution I can come up with is the Registration Officials. They're job would be to handle the registrations I can't, and hold the cash until they could meet up with me (they just need to PM me who they would be registering ASAP then I can update the lists). They're advantage is they can ask for more cash than I will.

Intended for roleplay and i'm basically taking advantage of the developing situation while its there.

Damn, some of those were really good questions!!!

Right now its a proposal so I didn't want to make the full blown post yet. If I make the full announcement, i will post it and not use the attachment. Ya, I'll see about simplifying things a bit. Here's a start though:

Basic rules for the average player:

You're registered you can:
1) enforce the nomad transport ban
2) carry nomads

You're not registered you can:
1) carry nomads but watch out for those registered
2) don't carry nomads and be on your merry way
3) be a crook and use the ban to get cargo anyways (bloody pirates, hehe)

All players enforcing the ban would have to obey server rules and request cargo before attacking (like standard police force). If someone responds by lying and saying they're registered when they're not...expect a nice fat bounty on your head :D

Registeration is via me or officials listed.
Registration can be by whole faction, all chars for a player, or individual char.

Im for it too. I like the idea. This is a way to get money, help noobs and imrpove role play without having to harass players as a pirate.
You have my vote.

Ok, i've decided. What the hell, let's try it. The worse that could happen it fails misserably and I have to pay a whole bunch of people their cash back.

The proper posts will be made in 4 hrs, when I get back :D, one in the roleplay section, one in the faction status.

The faction status - much shorter and to the point
The roleplay - the long version :D

Links between the two will be placed in the posts as well.

If anyone wants to suggest a change in the monetary values, make it now.
For the Factions, the orginal $10m offer is dropped. NSP got the free deal since they responded first, everyone else has to negotitate with me :D
