i kinda think that every faction should have a Capship limit seeing as it takes time to build em and they are costly
just like in the realworld the military dont just buy a Battleship and then have it 5 min later

heres my suggestion

every faction have a limit depending on members and Systems owned

id say its like this

2 Gun boats per system
1 Cruiser per system
and 1 BS per every 2 systems owned

lux/prison liners kinda dont count as its a Civil craft

its too hinder that there is gangbaging with a million Capships on a target
and too make it more RPG'ing

and that the faction should have too pay
maintenance
for the capships owned

100k for GB
300k for Cruisers
500k for BS

Paying maintanence is good but restricted cap-ships to systems owned doesn't work. Like -=?=- would only get one cap-ship. Which is unfair. Maybe 1 BS for every 2 people 1 Cruiser for every 2 people and 1 GB for every BS and Cruiser. Then the rest have fighters.

Maintanence on cap-ships should be:

BS: 2.5mil
Cruiser: 1.75mil
GB: 1mil
Fighter: 250k

And that is due when we pay for our systems.

i kinda... KINDA agree... its strange seeing a faction with lets say... 10 members... then about 7 or them have Giant Capships.... it should also go on member count also methinks

I'm really not a fan of paying for maintenance fees for every damn ship I own, guys.

It's pretty much a defeatist motion, and kinda hurts any chance at true role play as most of us would end up spending more time trying to rack up the money on VIP/Alien Organisms runs...

Come on, guys.. lets not make it EXPENSIVE to play FFS..

I think the same. Enough with system maintenance fee.... I'm expending enough money with my ships already... I dont like the idea of having to trade all the time in order to be able to play FL...

I think you only need to limit the number of large ships that a faction can have on the server at any given time.
You could even adjust the numbers depending upon the number of players the faction has.

Example:

A faction with less than 10 people can't have more than X number of BS, X number of Cruisers, and X number of Gunboats on the at server at the same time.

A faction with...

thats why i only want Maintenance fees on BS and cruisers and not so expensive Cruisers 250k and BS 500k tops

i dont know where dab gets his enormous ideas from :wacko:

Every Navy in the world (particularly superpowers) has a definate hiarchy of ships.
I call to your attention the U.S. Navy for example.
For instance: A carrier battle group.
1 carrier
2-3 cruisers
2-3 missle boats/frigates
and a few other miscelaneous craft including support craft.
Don't quote me on this but you get the idea.

What good is a battle group without the fighters and bombers?
I think limiting the number of capital ships is a good idea in reality.

But it depends if you are willing to organize to sucn an extent. I think it would be much better role play wise...not to mention a bit more accurate.

Here's a sugestion, lets do like the NPC's do with their BS patrols.

e.g. :-

1 BS, 2 cruisers/destroyers, 2/4 gunboats, 0/2 VH fighters

1 cruiser/destroyer, 2 or 3 gunboats, 2/4 VH fighters,

1 gunboat, 2/4 fighters

Thats how most of the cap-ship patrols I've seen have been arranged. Liberty navy cruiser patrols are 3 cruisers, 2 gunboats and 2 defenders, the kusari BS patrols are 1 BS, 3 destroyers, 4 gunboats, the nomads are the only ones I've seen to do a gunboat patrol which is 1 gunboat, 2 fighters.

Some factions have rules like only the top X number of people, or commanders or some other rank can only use a set type of cap-ship.

For example, in the TG, Titus could use a BS, Revenant and Tzunami could use Cruisers/destroyers and most of the rest of us could only use VHF's. (THIS IS AN EXAMPLE AND IS NOT TO BE TAKEN AS FACT)
