So, considering that 4.86 is delayed quite a bit that anticipated, i figured that i might as well provide you guys with some sneak peaks/teasers of what to expect in the next mod version (dont worry, it's not going to be coming out in 2012, we're actually working very hard to get the mod out soon for you lot to enjoy).
As many of you remember, I had taken up the torch to creating structures and other buildings for Gallia. The renders/threads were made from before, and there is also a youtube video i made a while back to show the gallic trade lane's animation working.
Furthermore, with the insane work other freelancer developers outside of discovery are doing (such as wodka working on the DX9 pipeline for freelancer, etc), i realised that it might not just be a dream to have stuff like bump maps, normal maps, ambient lighting etc in freelancer (in other words, advanced graphics stuff like newer games), and we might have the stuff available sooner than later.
Based on that thought, i decided to give making some bump maps for discovery based textures and see how they might look. the bump maps created are a quick job just to see a result, and being pleased with the original result, i decided to clean them up a bit further and create some basic renders for my models.
without further ado, i present to you, the Gallic buildings in a new light.
(quick warning, these images are pretty large/high resolution, so might take a bit of time to load etc. apologies in advance)
==========
Comments etc. are ofcourse, welcome. and on an ending note, there is such other content i am working on, so be sure to check this thread out regularly to make sure you see them all.
Looks cool man. Only one question.. I'm running FL on 1.40 GHz, 1.50 RAM, and an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500. I'm still gonna be able to run it even with all this new fancy stuff, right?

Tanke.
Pretty sure we wont add features without giving players options to turn them off if it causes too much lag.;)
So you can try it first with stuff on, and then off. and go with the best option.
