Hi everyone!

Ive only just played freelancer for the first time for a couple evenings. Wow, its amazing, far better than X3:reunion which i used to play sporadically. Its so addictive hehe.

I've had discovery activated as I thought i may as well have it premodded as this is apparently 'a community enhancement pack'.

So anyway, any tips for a complete newb? (I've ramped up the money from missions, as i dont want to spend my whole life to get a battleship and turned the difficulty down a bit, as i was getting to my ass handed to me in my little freighter. I've now got the 'templar' VHF and around 4 million credits spare, i was wondering where to go for my next ship? Remember I have know idea where most of the systems are and spend most of my time around bretonia at the moment.

I'm playing Open SP as i don't have any internet access at the moment, but when i do i'm looking forward to playing on the RP servers!

Dan

Yep, online is where the real fun starts!

And when you do get online, you don't want the Templar. It's a big fat target.:PFor your next ship...if you want to stay Bretonian, the Challenger is a nice bomber. Do you care if it's Bretonian? Prefer the VHF over bombers?

Oh! Oh! Go to Trafalgar Base in New London and get yerself a Waran! XD

welcome to Freelancer, if not the Disco RP server yet. I am no modder so I can't say much for the Modding, but I'd say that your gonna wanna put a few bucks together and grab the bomber. It will let you attack Capital ships, (Cruiser, Destroyer BS) and also can handle fighters if the pilot has a bit of skill. Its a good ship to learn in I'd say. Slow enough turning and such to keep a new player in control, strong enough to take care of most missions. Though you will be lookin at about 6-8 mil for these ships, and they are now found all over.

OH, and a big side note: You will prolly wanna do a clean install and set up of mod before going online. The modifications you have done could be seen as modding the mod and get you banned for nomething silly. Nobody else has pointed that out, so I thought I would.
@Vape, no, he's askin for details on the mod, not just saying hi. He even said he modded the mod.

Looking into returning, maybe.

Hey, mate, Welcome to Discovery! As you can see, Vape has already mentioned them, but... you see, it has been my duty for a while now (That's right, Vape, MY Duty, NOBODY elses:dry:) to tell people about the three hazards of Discovery: Communist penguins, our Discordian cannibal Malaclypse, and Harley, who's probably a cannibal, but I haven't actually caught her at it yet.

So, after all that unpleasantness, welcome! Again. When you get here, give the Server Rules a read-through and join my faction (the 66th Fighter Wing). Free Cardamine! You know you want it:PIf you're looking for a Bretonian faction, take a peek at Queen Carina's Own, they're our resident tea-drinking attack squad.

Communist Penguins aren't unpleasant! They're cute, and work in a happy, vodka-swilling family unit!
