Ok so heres where i show my ignorance....maybe just point me to the rule book again, but i have been reading it.
Just want to know the rule book on Trading.
If i were starting out in a trader possibly i would have a liberty tag or something manhatteny anyway....supposing it was a transfer of funds. See it all the time level 5 goes to level 60 in 3 secs.
So with my Trader ID and Manhatteny tag i set off to trade.

So if i'm staying legal and keeping in character in role play i can only land and trade on lawful bases or zoner bases? Am i right. And Vice versa a corsair tagged trader should never be landing through New tokyo etc.Thats question one.

So in a role play sense that would limit that lawfully trader to going to any outer system base to trade as they are officially enemies.
So question 2 is, how would you legally avoid Ban and being out of roleplay and still trade through an outer system.
I've seen people in New York saying that they can land anywhere as they are green to everyone, (ie i have bribed every barman this side of edinburgh), however is that a breach of roleplay, incuring sanction/ban?.

So my question is how do you trade everywhere......does it work like this ....I have a Trader ID and i'm green to everyone go for it, or do i need to be a Zoner.
Maybe this is one of the game secrets that everyone is guarding but being banned bites.

Maybe i'm missing the point, which is likely.

Option C is shoot me.
Anyone discern what i'm saying? I want to avoid being OORP.
Thought it might be a fair comment as there seems to be a lot of bans on Traders at the moment. These are guys with considerable cash too. Or should they know better.....Just so we know.
After all you see guys going through all systems and i guess alot of the game is monkey see monkey do.
Anyone shed some light?

there is a consensus not to carry the roleplay that far. - a generic trader, regardless of its tag ( since the tag is secondary when it comes to considering a player ) can trade with anyone and anything, everywhere. - however, it is also said that a trader is of course more welcome at lawful bases - and only welcome at unlawful bases if it benefits them. ( like cardamine to buffalo works well - or food to crete... but if you carry passengers to crete, you might be in trouble )

it would be NICE if you got a tag that matches your traderoute a bit - but not necessary. like if you do the boron run from NY to leeds - it d be neat if you had a BMM tag for example. but its not against the rules to do that with an interspace or ALG tag. probably also OK to have an outcast tag - but that ll get you into other problems - like showing red to most lawfuls.

she is generaly right. but you got to know this. in general you tag is an at a glace id that tells ppl who you are and what you are about, but in the end it dosent mean much. the only thing that relly counts is your ID. what is geting you in trouble is this. each terratory has the own way of doing things. crete pretty much KOSis you if you got anything but food. RM will get on you if you got a unlawful tag and and have weapions that might be suspect, liberty is cool with you so long as yor arnt smuggling, if thay catch you watch out becuse thay will get you back, sooner or later. you got to learn about the individule rps that are happiong with the individule groups if you want to stay in rp.

Now what about this crazy suggestion:

Limit generic trader ID to maximum freighters

That would go one step forward in RP. And all the trading company IDs would start to get used. I myself am very happy every time I see someone with a company ID instead of just a boring Trader ID.

Generic trader would still be allowed to dock virtually everywhere.. but only in freighter. If he wants a bigger ship he needs to choose which side he plays for.

Smuggler ID could be left as it is, only changed to "Transports (limited)" meaning people should use Pirate Transport/ BW transport and the like. But they could still dock everywhere without being shot when they don't have contraband. - because trading with a Pirate ID will simply get you shot. If you want to trade with a pirate ID dock on unlawful bases only.

i d support that any day - but then, i allready made my major tradings. i don t know how those feel about it that are currently still *cough* trading for their capships:laugh:. but it would be nice - from a roleplay view it would be really great - especially when traders would stick to a certain route and then get the tag appropriate for that route. - i don t know tokyo / berlin .... interspace? ... republican?

Interspace, Republican and Bowex are universal for just about every trade route in the game... still better than Trader ID.

Republicans a nice one that lets you go just about anywhere. And they have their own tag and id.

I don't get this if you were a smuggler wouldn't you want to use a ship other than Pirate Transport to remain anonymous?
