I've noticed that there are several different views about Discovery's economy, and I'd like to see if there's a correlation between the joining date and the people's view on the economy. The number of people voting should give a basic idea about it.

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

So... there was times, when mining here didn't existed? Hmm... I would like to know how everything looked liked back that times.

Mining's always existed, obviously. It was just the Mining Mod that really made it worth doing.

Been here since '06, before the Mining Mod and before Diamonds-Niobium.

Disco lived about 85% of its lifespawn without the mining mod.

I want to get off Mr. Igiss' wild ride.

While I was here before both those events, I've had a long hiatus in between (I left before the mining mod and came back just a couple months ago). I definitely think that the mining mod adds a more dynamic element to the economy, and I like many of the suggestions that have been made in the "future of mining" discussion. I completely agree that mining needs to be adjusted so that it's not concentrated to just a few asteroid fields, but I would hate to see it totally removed from the server.

Seen both, yet we didn't have problems making money in the time between passing Chugoku and the Mining-mania, people still managed to get their caps together (even with mandatory bs-scannercense). Can someone remember how long it took until Penny got killed off because people couldn't behave? Wasn't long for sure.

Been around since early 4.84 but never actually used the Diamond-Niobium run.

since 4.82/4.83

In review: Horrible simple and boring trading system. Only one good route.

Since 4.85 the trading system is soo good, that you can trade many hours without boredom. With my independent trader, i have never flown a special route in 4.85, because there are sooooo many other good routes.

I like it very much, that there is not only one "best" trading route, even if my last trade run was long ago now...

Edit: Oh, i forgot to mention: I never have mined. I have tried it shortly, but i gave up because of the noises of the ship.
