Hi everyone,
this is my first day in Discovery and i greet you all. It is not my first time in Freelancer (Multiplayer) though. I am thrilled to play Freelancer again, with this marvellous mod. But i have a serious problem which prevents me from connecting the server. Ever since i moved in a dorm in my college's campus, i have been experiencing problems connecting to multiplayer games (outside the campus' network). I think we have a really nasty IT department here, which has blocked nearly all multiplayer games somehow recently (not quite recently though, 1-2 years). I have read lots of topics related with the fact, how to bypass firewall, how to join MMO games, etc. but none of those helped. They include using HTTP-Tunnel + Sockscap + Proxifier and some other softwares, but i haven't been able to get any of those work, either because of my misunderstanding, or my college. I can not connect to the global server, I can not see any servers in the list, thus i can not connect to the discovery server. So what I am asking here is, is there a way i can connect to the server by some other means (i have even tried hamachi/battlelan, but the former requires an active network) (and yes, i have tried the shortcut to RP and PVP servers, they do not work, because i can not even ping the servers). By the way, when i tried to join a network (by using Hamachi) called "Freelancer Discovery", which i found by guessing, it asks for a password. I would be grateful to learn if that network could let me join the server, and if yes, what is the password? I will be glad to hear any suggestions, and wish you a nice day. I really want to play this game as MMO, again.

Some folks are working on a Global Server replacement.
A beta has already been released...can't remember the linky though:P
Look for 'Global Server Workaround' or something like that.

I have already tried that, it is not working either. On the other hand, the freelancer manual says if i run the game with -s command, like the shortcuts do, it will not wait for connecting to global server, but it will ping the servers instead, and display them when they respond. I am not even getting the name this way, so this has to be a problem with my network, rather than the global server instead.

The global server has been down for quite a long time, Microsoft pulled the plug on it.

Since i have already tried the shortcuts, -s command has lost its usefullness. I gave the weblauncher a try just a minute ago, it did not work neither. It's still the same, i can not ping the server, and consequently, it does not respond, thus the name does not appear on the list, like every other server that are not appearing.

Shortcuts are not working, and by saying I can not even ping the server, i mean the discovery server, not the global one. What i am asking is a solution to get past my campus' firewall.
